  I wont do an official photo shoot but I plan on taking him to the park and get some pics of him playing and hopefully one of those will be cute enough to be his invite pic.  I plan on heading to a park next week for a photo shoot because his party will June 2 and his birthday is May 31...so I want to get invited out early in May. 

  I'm pretty handy with a camera and photoshop so I am doing the pics and making the invites myself.  I still have to order prints of them so that will take awhile.

  We didnt.  We have her 1 year pics scheduled for 2 weeks after her birthday, actually (only because that's when the photog had an opening).  I just put 4 of my favorite pics onto the invitations.... one from the day she came home, one from about 3 months, etc.  I think it would just always bug me knowing she wasn't really one yet in her pics!  Plus it just seemed like way too much rushing to get the pics done and onto the invitations in time.

  We're doing 1 year pics 2 weeks before her birthday.  Not for the invitation (we actually used a 10 month picture I took myself for that...), but because of time constraints and that's what worked best with our schedules.  I figure 2 weeks before is close enough. 

  If you don't want to get pro pics done so far ahead, I would just take some yourself for the invites.  I'm guessing that's what most people do.

  I was thinking to do this as.  I'm a graphic designer, so I designed my own invitations, just have to put a couple pics on them.  I wanted to give the printer I use enough time to get them printed and I have a lot of family in Indiana, so I'll be sending them cross-country.  There's a tulip festival nearby, I'm sure I could get some cute pics there.

  I've been thinking about it.  Not something we would pay to get done, but something I could set up myself at home like we did with our Christmas and Easter shots.  We are doing an ice cream theme, so I sorta wanted to give her a big fat ice cream cone (filled with greek yogurt, let's see if that works), for her to hold and get messy with, so I can add it to our invites.

  We have ours scheduled for the weekend after next.  He will be 2 days shy of 11 months.  I wanted to use a smash the cake photo on the invite so had to do them in plenty of time to get back and send out for the party.  We are also doing family pictures that day and it would be nice for him to have been a year but its ok.

  At first I wanted to do them early to use for invites ( I wanted a picture of her smashing a cake for the invite) but then was going to wait and use another picture for her invite, now I can't decide...

  We aren't doing a picture invite, but I thought I'd use a picture for his thank you cards or just add a wallet size one in a regular card.

  We had pictures done at Easter (with a live bunny) and the photog asked if we wanted her to get the "1" out since she was only a month away from turning one. We said no because that'd be cheating. I fully anticipate her changing quite a bit in the next month, she already has since Easter really, and I want to capture what she was truly like at 12 months, not a month earlier...
