In the airport yesterday, a lady was talking to DD and when I told her she was 11 months, she started saying, "Where's your nose? Show me your nose!" and seemed surprised when I told her she couldn't do that yet.
Can your LOs do that? Is it something that you taught them, or did they just pick it up? Evie doesn't really seem to understand much when I talk to her. We sing "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" some days, but she doesn't really get it yet. Am I supposed to be working on body parts already? When do kids typically start to get that?
Re: Can your LOs point to their nose, etc?
I hate it when other people who know nothing about what a baby can('t) do/should(n't) do make you feel like your baby is behind!
No, I haven't even tried teaching that to her.
On the topic of what they should be doing...we were at a first bday part weekend. The birthday girl was walking around. Audrey, who just turned 10 months, is crawling and standing. Although she has taken steps, and can walk holding my hand, she does not actually walk solo. Honestly, I don't think she really cares to. She's a master crawler and gets around super fast. Anyway...they kept telling me "don't worry, she'll walk when she's ready." I was just thought um, she's only ten months. Don't worry, I'm really not concerned.
This. FIL recently asked us if we were going to start potty training soon. And he has 3 kids. I think people forget even if they've had kiddos. And no, she doesn't know any body parts.
Ha, Evie does this too! She will also perform a dental exam if you are interested.
Thanks, ladies! I should know better than to listen to crazy ladies in the airport!
We do get the oral exam as well. I think she's reaching for our tonsils.

BFP!! 8/29/16 --> EDD: 5/11/17....it's a GIRL!!!
I thought the same thing! I was like "oh crap, no way is she doing that, did I forget to teach her something?!"
This exactly, and I think he gets mouth as well. But he doesn't point, he grabs. I am not really sure if he understands that that is my nose, or if he just knows what is expected when I say those words, because he doesn't do it to anyone else, even himself, and it only happens during feedings.
I think we have all learned since our BFP's that most people have no clue about anything!

Isaac gave me a bloody nose the other day! I was holding him and reached up and scratched the inside of my nose. DH walked in from the backyard and I was standing there in shock, holding Isaac is one arm and holding my bloody nose in the other.
And no, he can't point out his nose. My friend was asking her baby to point at her nose the other day and I was like, huh, maybe I'm supposed to be teaching that now. So I've starting pointing out his nose and ears and such. But no, he's not doing that yet.
Ha! This is my kid for sure!
