I have 2 questions for you ladies:
1. When did you lower your crib mattress? I still have it at the highest from when DD was born, but I am curious as to when to move it down?
2. I know that my infant seat has a weight limit and height limit, but I also have a rear facing convertible seat. For those whose children still "fit" in the infant seat but have switched, when/ why? Too heavy, could sit up alone, hated recline?
Re: Crib lowering and car seat switch...
1. We lowered the crib mattress today. DD2 is rolling both ways, crawling, can get from crawling to sitting, and can pull up so she's "standing" on her knees with her body upright. I figure we're about 10 seconds from pulling to standing, so we dropped the mattress to the lowest setting. With DD1, I think we waited a little longer, may 8-9 months, but she didn't crawl until 8 months.
2. We kept DD1 in her infant seat until she was within an inch of the height limit, at about 13 months. I didn't see a need to go to the convertible before then, because she fit in the seat and was comfortable. We stopped carrying her in the seat around 8 months (16-17ish lbs?) and just left the seat in the car as you would with a convertible. We'll do the same with DD2, but probably even longer, because she's smaller than her sister was.

We are now just getting ready to lower the crib. We saw DS try to pull up in it and he is just about ready to crawl.
He is still in the bucket seat(about 19 lbs). He is so heavy though so we are going to put the convertible seat in soon. Like pp, we will keep bucket seat because it still is very convenient and our babysitter likes it too. I will miss having it eventually bc it is so nice when they sleep in it and you can move it.
Our crib is still on the highest setting. Smudge can't get to sitting on his own yet.
We switched carseats 4 weeks ago. Because he's too wide for the carrier
We lowered the crib mattress to the second setting when DD was first found sitting in her crib at 6.5 months (FWIW, she didn't sit up on her own again for another month or so). We lowered it to the lowest setting at 8 months when she started pulling up.
We switched carseats at about 7.5 months because DD never liked the infant seat - she hated the recline. Also, we never took it out of the car anyway because she never stayed asleep. However, DH still uses the infant seat in his car. I guess I should order him a new carseat too.
1. My understanding is you move the crib mattress when baby can sit up (I believe, from laying to sitting on their own). That being said, my son can't do that but I'm lowering it for my own piece of mind.
2. He did hit the height limit, but he also hated being that far reclined (buckling him was a nightmare), and he was too heavy for me to carry.
Our crib is still the same. I'll move it when he can get into sitting position in his own
We just recently switched. He can sit up now so hated the infant seat. He alsoimes being higher and able to see more.
1.We moved ours down to the second to lowest setting (mainly bc i still wanted to crib skirt to not droop down) as soon as DS could sit up. He went from sitting to standing/trying to crawl out within a matter of 2 weeks so now I'm going to have to put it all the way down (even though the lower setting is for the "toddler bed" setup). I'd reccommend putting it as low as possible the first time to avoid doing it twice!
2. We moved DS to his Britax Boulevard at 7 months. He still had 5 pounds to go on the infant seat but was really starting to hate it. He was too heavy to really carry him around in it so it was no longer useful as a travel system anyway. I figured I'm going to have to buy this anyway and if he'll fit into it now and it's a safer seat then why not! He is much happier in the car now since he can actually see out the window like a big boy!
