Where did you get the bra you will use to pump? I got the Medela PISA but it isn't hands free. I am going to want to pump and still be able to do things with my hands and not hold the pump to my boobs - especially when I go back to work and I need to work while pumping.
Also how many nursing bras did you get? Tanks?
I picked up 4 sleep nursing bras on Target the other day and have 2 regualr nursing bras, do you think this will be enough? I only have 2 nursing tanks so far. Is 4 enough? Too many? Do you wear the nursing tank with the nursing bra? Do you wear the tanks in the house or just when you are out and about?
Re: Pumping Bras and Nursing Bras and Tanks
Disclaimer... FTM mom here, and I've still got an inside baby
.
I bought the pumping bra from Buy Buy Baby - the Medela brand.
For nursing bras - I'm holding off until after I deliver b/c my bump is kind of one with my rib cage right nwo, but I think I'll need at least 2.
For sleep nursing bras - I also have 2.
I did get 3 nursing tanks also - the Bravado ones. Mainly b/c they come in my size and they seem pretty supportive. I plan on wearing them under my tank tops to go out in, or just wearing them by themselves at home.
with my first i basically lived in nursing tanks (my son was born in november so i would just throw on a hoodie or shirt over the nursing tank) and i usually slept in a t-shirt or the nursing tank.
i had 3 from target and they worked great, however i have a long torso so i felt like they were kind of short on me.
this time around i went with the motherhood maternity brand b/c they are more stylish and we are at our cabin thurs-sun in the summer and i want to be comfortable. i currently have 4 nursing tanks and that's probably all i will get. once i got the hang of nursing i wore a regular (underwire) bra with nursing tank and had no issues with nursing that way.
i think once you get the hang of nursing in general you'll find what works for you with nursing wear/gear and then you'll find what is comfortable for you.
I used this one when I was pumping <: super cute!

Oh I like the retro.
Dang though this breastfeeding crap sure is expensive between the bottles and pump and parts and bras and tanks and cleaning supplies, etc. Geesh!
I never used a pumping bra. In used elastic hair ties like this: https://kellymom.com/bf/pumpingmoms/pumping/hands-free-pumping/
It worked great!
I used this one too! I started using a sports bra with holes cut out for the pump, but that got old real quick because you have to take all your clothes off. That sucked.
I have three nursing tanks and it is not enough. I just ordered two more from Motherhood. I love wearing them because when I lift up my shirt, my stomach is still covered. This was particularly nice when I had to nurse in public for the first time at the pediatrician's office. Even though I had a blanket to cover everything, I still felt more comfortable.
I also have two nursing bras and need a ton more. I have found that the nursing tanks don't have enough support so I've been wearing the bras and tanks together. I hope to get to a store and buy three or four more

Happily expecting Baby Mac #2 around 4/13/14
so I think I am good on bras but I am going to need a few more tanks.
Thanks everyone.
Can you think of any other breastfeeding supplies that are a must?
This. Don't waste money on a pumping bra! This cost about a dollar and works great. I used it when I pumped at work with DS1, and was still able to work (or play) on my computer.
In case the hair tie doesn't work for you - I have the Simple Wishes bra and it's awesome.
