It never gets old...

to have every single family member, friend, and random stranger tell me about how i'll change my mind about doing a "natural birth." Really? Huh....no one told me childbirth is painful! Whatever shall I do!!!

 

I love how each person who says it thinks they're the first! And how maybe, MAYBE, 20% of them even have kids!!! Seriously, stop asking me about it fvckwads!

 

From now on I will tell EVERYONE I intend to give birth by standing on my head and attaching a chew toy to the baby so the dog can be there to help pull it out.

    I'm with you on this one.  People think I never heard that labor is painful.  No sh!t? Really? And the way they look at me, like I'm so naive.  Pisses me off.

    I'm going to start telling people we're getting an epidural just so they'll leave me alone.

    From now on I will tell EVERYONE I intend to give birth by standing on my head and attaching a chew toy to the baby so the dog can be there to help pull it out.      that is awesome:)

    My sister had her first with all the meds she could get, but her second came too fast ( in the ambulance) for any drugs.  She said as painful as the 2nd was it was better becasue she wasnt to drugged to fell the push and know it was right.  She also said she felt really good after.  Im going to try it for this reason alone...

    Gee Mandy, you didn't know childbirth was painful??!

     What a bunch of nuts! I think you should tell everyone about the dog/chew toy idea (brilliant, brilliant).

    I think its awesome that you want to do it naturally and with out intervention. I dont have that option but I'm hoping to hold off on the meds as long as possible. I'd like ti be able to share that experience with FI. Good luck with your plans and classes!

    Yeah, the main person who did this was my "friend" who had just had SUCH a big baby. (It was 8 lbs. Mine was 7 and a little. I don't think a lb. makes THAT much difference.) And, btw, it was fine.

    She kept telling me I should have two full IVs just in case, because I WAS going to change my mind. There was about 15 minutes where I thought I wanted drugs. This was right before I started pushing.

    seriously!  Do people scoff at you too? Like everyone scoffs at me and says "you'll change your mind"  ahhh, no, no I won't, thanks! I'll be plenty happy with my baby that the thought of the pain will quickly dissipate, thanks.  I have friends who've done it naturally and if I am able that's the way I'm doing it too, thanks!

    Just like the saying goes. If you were in the room for conception you can be there for delivery....

    I completely agree!!! And so many people I know that have children and a natural childbirth say that if they could do it again, they would in a heartbeat. Yeah, I am sure it hurts like hell, but thousands and thousands of women do it - screw all those people who seem to think that somehow we missed the clue that it was going to hurt!

    Seriously, it would never occur to me to weigh in on someone else's preference for natural vs. anesthesia. I'm all ears if my friends want to talk about their plans/preferences, but it's their experience, not mine. I'll just worry about myself...I'm amazed when other people think you need their opinion on this kind of stuff! ?

    My mom had some, but very little, drugs. The way she talks about it she sounds as though she was basically drunk. They told her it was a girl and she grogilly said 'oh that's good.' Why would I want to be like that?

    I'll do it standing on my head to instead of that!....Hillarious!
