We were released yesterday afternoon. DD's chest X-rays and echocardiogram came back normal. They weren't able to do a swallow study because apparently the hospital doesn't do them on the weekends. The one DD had done in early February was normal, though. The doc is having us majorly thicken DD's formula with rice cereal in hopes that this will keep it down rather than coming back up into her throat and we changed her reflux meds from 1ml of Zantac to 1.5ml of Prilosec. Since we were admitted to the hospital DD has only had one very short gasping episode that only lasted a couple seconds (it's normal for her to have several a day). Doc said to keep an eye on it and if things start to get worse again to call ASAP, otherwise we will revisit at DD's 4 month appointment next month.
Fwiw, I was always against rice cereal in bottles. I was hesitant to even try it when the pedi suggested it, but thought we'd see. If adding rice cereal keeps my daughter breathing rather than choking and turning blue from the liquid coming back up into her throat, then I'll do it.
