Success after IF

Anyone up for confessions?

Why do you deserve the "Mother of the Year" award today (insert sarcasm)?

My kids napped really late so I let them have a 'snack' dinner of string cheese, cantaloupe chunks, and goldfish crackers. It is the start of DH's work week today and I wasn't feeling it.

Re: Anyone up for confessions?

  • Nicholas' dinner tonight was 2 containers of Applesauce.  He wouldn't eat his dinner, so he helped himself to the applesauce.   Instead of listening to him throw a fit if we say no applesauce, we just let him have it.   Oh and he had Peanut Butter on a spoon after that- 3 helpings.   That was his dinner.

  • My poor daughter is constipated as a result of her potty training herself (I know it may seem like I am the luckiest mom in the world, but the poor girl will not poop now, nor will she go back to diapers).  She is miserable and now she has to be on maintenance medication and a special diet. I feel awful for her...

I caved - I let her have princess fruit snacks for her snack - the sugary, good for nothing packets she received in her easter basket that were intended to be rationed over a very long time... right now she is sleeping in OUR bed, not her own.  She wanted to, and I couldn't tell her know. No 2 year old should have to deal with laxatives and suppositories..

  • Garrison basically ate frozen custard for dinner.  (She ate well for breakfast and lunch and and had a snack of cheese and pepperoni so good protein and well, I wanted frozen custard...and um, well, we bribed with it to get her to take a much needed bath)

I'm actually quite comfortable with my decision because she is generally a very good eater and we almost never do anything like that so on occasion I think it is fine.   But....I can see how some might take issue with it.

It makes me feel better that I am not the only one with a kid who hates baths! DS will spend an hour every night in the tub if I let him. DD, I have to bribe her twice a week just to get in long enough to wash her and her hair.

  • All right, since naughty food seems to be the theme of the day... I am so thankful that DS eats very healthy food -- and eats it very well -- at daycare three days a week, because far too often he eats junk at home. On the days when we don't have junk, he often just doesn't eat very much at all. :(

We've had way too much fast food these past few weeks, which unfortunately means that on those occasions DS fills up on french fries and won't eat much else. Ugh.

  • I really think I would give half of the people on this board a heart attack with the things I let Isabel do...

She is 3 1/2 today and she still sleeps with us almost all of the time (and we like itSurprise) ...We still "handle business" other times/places.

We had my step brother and his family over tonight (school night for both our girls) and they played on the swing set with glow sticks until alomost 9 when we came in and had ice cream and brownies, Isabel did not get a bath until 10 (and passed out right after)

She still eats almost nothing. When we go out for Mexican (often) she pulls the basket of chips in front of her and eats away.

I know I have way more than that but, I'm drawing a blank right now but I often think, wow, I know some SAIFers would be judging the h3ll out of thisStick out tongue

SAIF would think I am the worst mom if I confessed all my short comings as a mom. I go to bed happy when my kid is happy and healthy so that is all that matters to me.

Thanks:) Tortilla chips are totally okay because they have grain and that is part of the food pyramid...just go with itBig Smile

  • I'll continue with the food thing, Eliza had a piece of cheese & 4 donut holes for breakfast. Toast, a couple bites of frittata & Oj for lunch, & pancakes with loads of syrup & sprinkles for dessert. We had a super busy day & she ate on the go.

Lydia is not loving solids & I am terrible about offering them on any kind of schedule.

Speaking of schedules, it pretty much doesn't exist on weekends. Naps are usually on the road & bedtime is super late.

  • DH and I went to a house party on Saturday night...and then our kids were both awake at 6am Sunday.  DH got 2 hours of sleep.  I got 4.  Needless to say, it was a very uninspiring day around here.  Lots of couch time and we ordered pizza for supper:)

I got everyone to take a nap in the afternoon.  And I paid for that big time.  Penny woke up from her nap screaming mad and was out of sorts for pretty much the whole rest of the day.  She didn't get to sleep until 10pm.  No more naps for that girl!!

  • Speaking of food, we JUST started G on some solids at nearly 8 mos. I don't understand the huge rush a lot of my friends seem to be to get baby on solids and off the breast. I definitely agree with the whole "food under 1 is just for fun" mentality.

  • Cant believe half the things i do......lol

DD climbs into the car and sits herself into her carseat while i get the baby bucket snapped in.  About three times i drove off and a minute later DD tells me i didnt strap her in!! I pull over in a panic and strap her in.

We are bad with food.  I do weight watchers so we have healthy foods in the house.  However, she wants to eat my fiber one bars all the time!  We limit her to one a day now.  Constipation is no issue here.

My child hates to wear jackets, coats, hats, you name it.  I usually have tobribe her to put one on.  Half the time its not worth the battle sowe let her go to the car without it and bring it with us.  My mother thinks im negligent. Awesome.

Im sure i could think of many more!

  • In my opinion cantaloupe and cheese are pretty healthly so I say dinner was not all pretty good: )

Now me on the other hand...Yesterday Katie had coco pebbles for breakfast (because this pregnant mommy loves them and now so does she : ) and we took her to a bar for dinner (it is a family friendly place)  and watched the flyers and she had mac anc cheese and ice cream.  Oh and we stopped at dunkin donut this AM...yikes

THIS EXACTLY. When DH is on call, I don't eat much and so I feed the kids leftovers. Part of the issue is that one of my kids doesn't eat and the other just wants to eat cheese only. So I'm with ya, sista.

Nicholas would be fighting Isabel for those chips.    We don't make him sit at the table for meals.  If he wants to get up and play, that's fine.  if he wants to eat his meal on his little Dora tray while sitting on his Barney chair watching TV, that's fine with us.  We definitely spoil Nicholas.   Oh and if it's bedtime, if he is giving us a hard time "I want to go downstairs and watch Olivia"  we will usually let him watch one more Olivia or Blue.   We figure 22 minutes more and then he'll go to bed no problem is better than saying No and then listening to him have a fit for an hour.

    No judging here.

  • Ok this was last week but DS was with my mom today so she'd have to confess her own lol. Last week DS fell down the stairs for the first time, on my watch.  DH had taken him for a wagon ride and when they came home he realized DS chucked his shoe out of the wagon somewhere along the way. He went to go look for it but I thought I heard him come back in, so I thought he was watching DS.  In the meantime DS had gone up the stairs. When I realized I didn't know where DH or DS were, I called upstairs, then went to call elsewhere, then ran back to the stairs thinking if DS had gone up, he might try to come down (i.e. step off like he's walking off a cliff, he has no idea how to go down stairs). That's when I heard him falling down them. He stopped halfway and was fine, but I felt horrible.

OK, you didn't need to whole story...but I hadn't told anyone about it yet because I feel guilty.
