Hello everyone!! Adalyn's
neonatologist told us today that she presented her to the other
neonatologists as one of the babies who is almost ready for discharge!
She thinks that sometime next week Adalyn will be discharged, depending,
of course, on how she does. They are already doing things in
anticipation, such as switching her from the 24 calorie formula to
Neosure, which is something we can buy at the store. She is also
stopping the milk fortifier that was being added to my breastmilk, since
we wouldn't be able to do that at home either. They also switched her
to wall oxygen, which comes out at 100% and the flow is what is
adjusted. This is because if she goes home on oxygen, with the tank,
all that you can adjust is the flow. So, right now she is on 0.1L of
oxygen at 100%. I think that she will go down from that since she was
satting high when we left.
She will have to take all her feeds from the bottle, and so far she has been managing only taking 6 bottles of the 8 feedings a day. The other times she is just too tired. However, today they will be trying to give her 4 bottles in a row, so we'll see how she does. She is up to 5 pounds 8 ounces (2.49 kg)! She is already out of one set of preemie outfits and quickly outgrowing the other preemie size clothes!
They think that she will probably
be going home on oxygen since she has been doing so well on her
feedings. They will give us tons of education on using the tanks, as
well as the monitors, etc. However, who knows? Maybe she won't need it?
Or, she may only need it for her feeds. We'll see. Only time will
tell. I think, though, that even if she needs it, she won't be on
oxygen for very long once she gets home.
I can't believe that the time is
almost here! DH and I have been working hard and I think that we
will be able to have everything ready for her! Operation De-Clutter The
House is in full swing, and we are making great progress. Adalyn's
nursery may not be completely decorated when she comes home, but the
basics will be in place.
