When will I start to look pregnant instead of just fatter?

I have a definite bump, but if you didn't know me you'd just think I need to start hitting the gym. When will I start to actually look pregnant? I'd like for strangers to think 'aww she's having a baby' and not 'she should invest in some Jillian Michaels DVDs'

Well it could be worse....I definitely look pregnant and when they ask how far along and I tell them, they say "That's it??? That's going to be a big baby or There's got to be more than 1 in there". Not so fun.... Crying

I feel the same way. SO and family can tell I'm pregnant, just because they know. I feel like everyone else thinks I'm pulling a Kirstie Alley. Doesn't help that I gained 10 pounds before I got pregnant...

OP, with my first, I don't think I started looking pregnant until around 21-22 weeks But everyone's body is different. For me it was harder because I have the "double bump" because of the general pooch I have all the time. It takes awhile to turn into a single one I guess. Sucks.

Completely agree and keep asking the same question. I swear my family and DH are just saying it's a bump because they know I feel just plain fat. My butt looks like it's getting bigger more than my belly. UGH.

For me, it's around 32 weeks each time. That's when I "pop". Before then, I look like I've got a big gut and haven't lost any of the PG weight from my other kids! LOL!

I know how you feel! When I announced to my family at Easter my SIL said she was wondering but didn't want to say anything just in case I just wasn't working out, now I feel self conscious and really just want to look pregnant and not just look like I've gained a few.

LOL. I know what you mean. I went to a sample sale over the weekend (with a big communal dressing room), and there was another pregnant woman there who must have been maybe a couple of months further along than me, and EVERYONE was oohing and ahhing over her. I wanted to be like, "hey! over here! Also pregnant! Not just getting fatter!" This is odd, because normally I don't want attention. But there's something about feeling like no one is recognizing that I'm part of the Pregnant Club that irritates me.

Agreed with DD I was about 20 weeks. And today I had a guy look at me on the subway in my sundress and I think he was wondering if I was fat or just hadn't worked out in awhile. Oh and he did not offer me his seat which makes me think I do not look pregnant.

I'm right there with you all! I got a short from Walmart.com and got a shirt with Hans and feet on the belly bc I feel big. It doesn't help my mother txt me everyday about how much weight she is losing she's 45 and down to a 6 bc she's starving herself! And when I said I did not realize how big I got she said yea it's nice to go the other way... Thanks for the support mom!

I feel the same way... I'm hoping for the belly 'pop' soon! I think people look at me and think I have eaten too many cookies. The self-image isn't so great right now ;(

Yeah I kind of feel like I have a beer belly going on. My belly is bigger but it's not a bump yet.

DH was rubbing my tummy yesterday because I felt so sick and he was like WHOA where'd that come from? You have a bump! I didn't have the heart to tell him that I think it's just because I'm constipated lol.

I've gotten this too and it's very insulting. I'm not petite, but I'm not overweight either.
Worst comment so far was made by my midwife: just after doing a pelvic/pap, she said "You'll be fine, you've got good birthing hips." .... Uhhhhh thanks???
