Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

if you were a boy

What would your parents have named you? Or what other names did your parents consider naming you?

If I were a boy they would have named me Thomas. Other name contenders were Natasha and Susan.

ETA: I would ask what your name ended up being but I know a lot of bumpies are very hush hush about RL information. My name is Cynthia btw (shocker), and I'm glad that it ended up that way.

I'm not sure they had a boy name, but I was almost Wendy.

  • They didn't even have a boy name picked out, my mom was "sure" I was a girl.  I was supposed to be Lauren rather than Heather, but my mom changed her mind in the hospital.

  • I was suppose to be Trevor Michael if I was a boy. There weren't any other girl name choices than the one I was given.

  • My mom always loved the name Corey, but they had three girls.

  • James Robert, Jr.  They would have called me Jamie, which I really dislike.
  • If I was boy I would have been Daniel. My Stepdad's boy name choice for my sister was Guido ISYN!

  • My mom got to pick girl names and my dad got to pick boy names. I was going to be Douglas. My sister would have been Geoffrey.

  • Beau if I had been a boy and Elizabeth was their other girl name.  They ended up naming me a weird old-ladyish name.  Hated it when I was growing up but I love it now.

  • Yianni/John after my grandpa (he died when my mom was pregnant with me). I was also almost named Yanna/Joanna (same reason) but ended up just being named Elly.
  • If I were a boy I would have been Charles (Charlie, really) and the other girl name they considered was Emily.

  • My parents were dreading having me come out a boy. They didn't have a boy name picked out. The only thing they had set was that my middle name would of been Michael. Since I was a girl I was named Andrea Michelle. However, my mom wanted my name to be Rachel. Thank god that didn't happen! Lol

  • I would have been Peter for a boy and Leslie as an alternate girl name if my dad hadn't vetoed it.

  • If I was a boy my name would have been Austin. Don't know about the middle name.

My mom also considered naming me Chantel/Shauntel (spelling?) but they settled on Nicole instead.

I'm from the former U.S.S.R., so the alternative sounds weird in English but is a pretty common Russian name - Ksenia. I'm glad they went with Yulia instead.

  • I would have been Daniel Dakota. My mom was suppose to name me Mary but when my dad wasn't in the room she put the name she wanted on the birth certificate.

  • I would've been Phillip.

My mom said at the church where my parents got married there was an altar boy who was really sweet and polite. His name was Phillip and that's what she wanted for me.

    Hey now!!!!

My name was supposed to be Sarah but my mom changed her mind at the last minute.  I don't think she had a boy's name picked out.

  • I would have been Michael Alexander. Coincidentally, Michael is my son's middle name and my daughter is named Alexandra.

  • I was named after my two great grandmothers (Anne and Marie). If I was a boy it would have been after two of my great grandfathers (Michael Edward). It's not too bad except my initials would have been MEL!

I was Brian until I was born sans penis
  • I would have been Andrew, which I love. So much in fact, that it is my DS's middle name. :)

  • My dad wanted to name me Arnold, after his dad.  My mom was like...no way!  Can you imagine being an ARNOLD today???

Hah, Arnold!  You would have gotten so much "what you talkin about Willis?" on the playground.

I would have been Brian.  Nothing wrong with that name, but it was too popular back then.  I like my relatively uncommon girls name.

  • For a boy, they considered Nicholas. They also liked Joshua, but they adopted a little dog that came with the name Josh, so that went out the window.

Before settling on Sarah, they also considered Victoria (but didn't like the nn Vicky)and Amy.

  • Hezikiah. Great name, but we're not Jewish (or religious in any way). And their girl choice (Jessica) was super trendy at the time. Hmm

  • Brandon.

Other names for girl name choices: Noelle and Holly  *I was due on Christmas day, hence the "theme" names*

All three sound pretty ok to me, but I don't mind my current name either.

  • I think my parents once told me that I would have been Patrick if I were a boy.  And I think their other top choice for a girl was Stephanie.  I like my name, so I'm glad they picked it and not Stephanie (although that name is okay too).

  • Had I been a boy, they would have given me my brother's name, Christopher. It was a favorite of my mother's. My dad pushed for "Clarandalynn" (yeah, that's right). It's a combo of my maternal grandmother's (Clarica), my mother's (Andrea), and my paternal grandmother's (Evelyn) names, and it started with a C, which is what my mother wanted. She obviously vetoed that so, so quick. She considered Chealsea, Brittney, and Kailey before settling on Cortney.

    I changed my name when I turned 18. :P

OMG that name makes my head spin.

As for me, I'm pretty sure I would be Kevin if I was a boy. My Dad always loved the name Keith, but his older bro had a son and named him Keith lol. That kind of got to my Dad, but oh well... all he had was girls anyway :) Kevin was my Dad's second favorite name I suppose.

My Mom choose to name me Kendra as a feminine form of my Dad's name (Kenneth, goes by Ken).
