Is your baby a screamer?

DD has started turning everything into a scream. Whines turn into screams, talking turns into screaming, giggles and laughter turns into screaming. I'm about to lose it - it's ALL DAY LONG. I'm popping Excedrin like they are tic tacs these days.

Anyone else with a screamer? Have you found anything helps them to communicate without screaming? DD's a super happy baby, otherwise. We've just been in this phase for the past three weeks and I'm hoping it passes soon.

Any suggestions appreciated.

  • Mine is a screamer too.  I don't think there is anything I can do about it, so I'm just waiting for it to end.  Hopefully this phase won't last too long.

  • Yes, to the point that she is losing her voice. At her 1 year appointment, the pedi noted that her vocal cords were a little swollen. Tongue Tied Apparently it's just a phase she needs to go through. Ugh.

  • We have a very loud screamer!  She screams everywhere and anywhere!  If she wants something she points and screams now.  We are trying sign language because she does know how to do it.  So instead of giving in to the screaming we wait for her to sign and it is working so far.  But she still screams when she is happy all the time!

  • Ugh yes, this just recently started for us, too. She just seems to like hearing herself scream. She doesn't know many words yet but signs quite a bit, and that's not really making much of a difference in the screaming.
  • Yep, we've got a screamer as well. Mostly happy screams but it can be jarring especially when we are out in public. Hopefully it ends soon!

  • Yep, we got a screamer over here too.  Screams to eat, screams while going from one side of the room to the other, screams for everything.  **sigh** Hope it passes soon.

  • Ladies!! There is hope! It does end. Jack was a pterodactyl for about 3 weeks and now he just babbles constantly!! The screams were beginning to get to me.  We have high ceilings and it would just reverberate all over the place!

Yep, we figured out that fun trick last week and now it's all screaming, all the time. Happy screaming, mind you, for the most part. But ear piercing.

No suggestions. I really think it's just a phase and as they get more words, the screaming will lessen. We do sometimes lower our voices to a whisper, and she'll mimic, but I don't think any lesson is being learned there.

    Yep, this.
