C-sections

sex after c section.....

I am almost at my 6 week pp and I am wondering about sex. I had a C-section but was also pushing for a good few hours prior but I didn't have any tearing.   Will it still be painful even though I had a cesarean?? any tips/suggestions?

Re: sex after c section.....

  • I was cleared at 3 weeks for sex after my c-section but I waited a while longer. It was still painful. I think between not having sex for the last few months and hormone fluctuations from just having a baby and trying to breastfeed it was going to hurt anyway. Just use lots of lube and don't expect to jump right into wild acrobatic sex right away.

  • I did have pain. I was very surprised. I only got to 4 cm too, so no pushing. I believe that BFing had something to do with it. It was not really fun again until 8 months PP. It was doable after about 4, but not fun.

  • It was painful for me and I didn't do any pushing. Some women say its not. Just depends on your body I guess.

  • Hormones is the main culprit for sex hurting after delivery, no matter how you did it. My suggestion: LUBE. LOTS OF LUBE.

And possibly go slow at first.

    GL!

  • I didn't push, so sex wasn't painful, it is just that my scar makes me feel really disgusting and not wanting to have sex at all.

  • We had sex at 3 weeks pp and it was fine.  I enjoyed it Wink But I only dilated to 4 centimeters, so no pushing.  But as pp said LUBE!

I have had it sort of bad - even with lube it's still super painful. It's due to breastfeeding, though, not the c section.

    All of this.

  • I was in labor for 15 hours and only made it to 5 cm. DS was declared "breech".

I'm over 15 weeks PP and still have some slight pain. It's like everything up in there shifted? At first foreplay was no different. But then once DH was all the way in...ouch! I also had some pain with tampons.

No big tips/suggestions. Just go slow. I really appreciated some "pre-seed" lubricant in the beginning too.

  • I had a very rough labor up until the c-section. We waited 8 weeks and I still very sore when we first had sex the first time. I waited another week and it still hurt a little less, it got better after that. I was suprised I did not think I would have any problem's with sex yet I did. I hope it is wonderful for you! LOL!

  • I had an emergency C-section and didn't labor at all. I waited 6 weeks as advised, but it was pretty painful, even with lube. It's mostly due to breastfeeding. It gets a little better each time, but it still feels a little sore at almost 5 months. I'm sure your partner will be eager to jump back in the game, but use lots of lube and take it sloooooow.
