Colace is your friend even after hospital discharge.  And it's over the counter.  Trust me, have it home waiting for you.  I learned that last time and I'm so glad I did!

    I will second this!!!! I can NOT believe that I wasn't given anything in the hospital for constipation after all the constipating meds I was given. I didn't go for 10 days after my daughter was born and when I finally did it was absolutely aweful. I had to end up doing an enima and taking stool softeners.
