So my baby girl who just turned one this past saturday weighs 19lbs..I have read books and from ppl that think she is 7month old that she is tiny. I myself iam 5'2 and weight 107lb and my hubbie is slim.but i cant help not to worry because she doesnt seem to be gaining weight as i would like. So i wanted to know if there mothers out there like me whose one year weights less than the average..and to top that she hasnt walked yet,,

what are your thoughts.
Re: How much does your 1yr old weight?iam concern
have you talked to your pedi?
People's comments really annoy me. My DS is 20lbs and almost 11 months. People say he looks huge. I do not know what people want to see or what they think "average" is.
If you and your DH is little, your DC may be little. Not all babies grow the same because they're all different.
Also, my friend's DD will be 1 on Tday and she's not walking either. She walks with a walking toy but not unassisted.
Join our wiki and tell us what your baby eats for finger foods.
You should ask on the toddler board. : )
My one nephew did not hit the 20lb. mark til he was about18 months. He's tiny and he still is. I think my daughter could probably wear his clothes now. He's still in 18 months and he's 21 months old.
My friends baby did not start walking til she was 17 months old.
Every baby is different. Unless the dr. is concerned with her I wouldn't worry.
Does she eat okay, or is she fussy with her food?
Happy birthday to your baby girl!
I wouldnt worry - as long as the Dr. thinks she is healthy!
DD just had her 1 year appnt yesterday and she weighed 20lbs.
She is in the 50th percentile for weight and the 30th percentile for height.
And they will walk when they are ready!!
Hi;
I believe that 20lbs is average for a 1 year old. Maybe she is not gaining as much weight because of all the calories she burns because she's so mobile.
As long as she's healthy and Pedi doesnt think its an issue I wouldnt worry about it. Also you and your hubby are not above average sized people so I wouldnt expect your daughter to be either.
Just my 0.02 cents.
My 4 year old weighed 15.5 lbs. at one year and didn't start walking until a few weeks after his birthday.
Dd is only 9 months old, but she only weighs 13 lbs and on track to be about the same size (or maybe even smaller) as ds at one year. However, I highly doubt she'll walk for many months to come- she's nowhere near even being able to pull up yet.
There's really no reason to be concerned just because your 1 yr old is 19 lbs- that's a perfectly reasonable weight IMO. And averages are just averages- some babies are bound to be below it and others are bound to be above it- that's what makes it just an average.
Is your pedi concerned? If he/she isn't then I wouldn't worry too much about it.
DD was 21lb 9oz at her 1yr appointment. I was looking in my baby book and I was 18lb 13oz at 1yr. My brother was also.
Both DD and I were over 9lb at birth.
I have a little squirt too. At 6 months mine was 13 lbs 13.25 oz. I read that the weight gain is 1 lb per month until 1 year so DD should be around 20 lbs at 1 year (but I doubt it since she only gains 1 lbs 5 oz from 4-6 months). She is pretty much following my weight pattern as an infant so I'm not concerned. Also, my nephews were all tiny (and the dr was concerned) and they are all big healthy boys.
I have another nephew that will be 2 next week and he is 26 lbs. Some kids are just small. I wouldn't worry about it.
