Hey.
I haven't posted here in a bit but I just wanted to let you guys know that I had my baby boy. He was born on Thursday morning and I had hoped to have a completely med-free delivery and was very fortunate to have just that. Below is my birth story.
I guess all I needed was an induction date to scare him into coming.
I had a doctors appointment the morning on the 11th and we decided to go with an induction the following Tuesday (41 weeks 3 days). I had random contractions on and off all day but nothing exciting.
I woke up at midnight (40 weeks 5 days) with what I knew were the real deal contractions. After timing them for about 45 mins and having them 3-5 mins apart I called my brother to stay with the girls, got everything packed up and ready to go and we left for the hospital by 1am. Got to the hospital at 1:30am, checked into triage and was 4cm. After an hour of monitoring and another check I was at 5-6cm and checked in and moved to a room.
I labored for a few hours, breathing through the contractions (which by the way were NOTHING compared to the pitocin contractions I had) and I was working on the birthing ball and walking around the room. At 5:00am I asked my doctor to break my water since I figured that would help move things along. 5:15am my water broke, contractions picked up in intensity and by 6:15am I was almost at 10cm and getting ready to push.
I pushed for 15 mins though it felt like it was much longer than that. Once he was out it was instant relief and they placed him on my chest. He was born at 6:24am and he let out a huge scream which was so amazing to hear! (neither of my girls cried after they were born)
He weighed 8lbs even and was 20.5 inches long. His sisters already adore him too.
