I am a Sarah too, and I agree... it's has a timeless/classic feel. It just happened to have a spike in the early 80's but it's had spikes in other eras, too.

Now, it frequently appears on girl name lists and is generally loved by this board.

My name is Rebecca. It's been around for thousands of years, so I don't think it's dated. It may not be as popular as it once was, but when I think of a name that is dated, I think of being able to pinpoint it to a particular decade.

Kelly. Very dated 80's name. Kelly is now 306 on the SSA list, and I haven't personally heard of a Kelly born in years. I bet in the 80's it was much higher on the list.

My name is Caroline, nn Carrie. I think Caroline is classic, and seems to be more popular now than when I was born in the 80s. Carrie does seem dated to me though...a 70s and 80s name I guess.

I've never met anyone with my same name, although I've heard of a few people who have a friend of a friend with my name. Since its pretty uncommon, I don't think its dated at all.

For the record its not anything off the wall or crazy, its just never been super popular. Its never cracked the top 500 in the last 10 years, but is always on the list.

Agree, I see Aimee/Amy as a classic name that became very trendy in the 70's. So it is a paradox of dated 70s/80s and also classic traditional.

I love my name. It makes the SSA list, but isn't very high. Of course my spelling is unique, so I never see that. I love when I see/hear anyone with my name.

While Amy has been around for a long time, it spiked so sharply in the 70's and 80's and then dropped back down, so I do think that it's very dated.

Dated, yes. Dawn--born in the 70s. I don't quite get why it's so bad that people can approximate when I was born. People refer to names as "dated" like it's a horrible thing, but I don't think it's a big deal.
