June 2012 Moms

Is anyone a student right now?

If we have any students on the June board, I just need to applaud you! I've been through University and I know how much work it takes. Currently DH and I are teaching a course through our church and we present our topic on Monday night. It's just a simple 20 minute presentation (that we've even done before), but I can't for the life of me concentrate on it long enough to type it out and get it done! My pregnancy/mommy brain is so bad right now and I am SO easily distracted.

Anyway, kudos to anyone that's surviving papers and exams right now! :)

Re: Is anyone a student right now?

  • Thanks :) I think that it actually helps me stay distracted, so most of the time I don't feel that anxious 'oh my gosh I wish it were June already and that LO would just come!' feeling - there's still so much to deal with before May that I can't even properly think about June.

In all fairness, though, I'm in a really bad grad program with an awful adviser so am leaving once this semester ends... At this point I'm just doing enough work to get by and not get in trouble because I'm the most unmotivated that I've ever been (and I would attribute it a lot more to the program and adviser than pregnancy, to be honest). This place took my passion for school and research away a loooooooooooooong time ago, and by this point I'm really just dragging along for the next 3 weeks. Can't wait to get the heck outta here!!

  • Thanks! I am currently doing all my schooling online & it is not like traditional school.  I actually go to school in terms which are 6 months at a time, so I can work on my classes at my own pace. I have a wonderful mentor for my program & the individual class mentors are great too. They have really helped me this last term to get through my classes & it has been hard being pregnant & tired. This term will end this month and then I am going to take a 3 month break so I can have LO & hopefully have some adjustment time before starting again.

  • Yes, I am attending school ft along with working ft. This is my last semester, and I'm a bit nervous, as my edd is just a week before the end of the term.

  • Thanks :) I go to school FT and work FT. It's a lot to handle. In May I am switching to all online courses (which are more work and time than their on-campus counterparts, but at least I can do the work when I can instead of having to be at a class until 11pm). However, my professors are not allowed (supposedly) to give me any relaxed deadlines or let me work ahead so I don't miss anything when I;m in the hospital deliver. So I hope LO comes during the week so I don't miss any of my weekend exams! If I stay enrolled full time through graduation, I will be done with my BA double major right before LO's first birthday.

  • DH and I are both in college right now. It is SO hard. I can't wait for it to be done. Four more weeks of this semester and then it is summer break.

  • I am in my last semester, and thankfully it's been a pretty easy going one!

  • I am taking 21 credit hours (thats 7 classes) at a big ten university right now! It's been the hardest semester of my college career but walking on that stage to get my diploma 35 weeks pregnant will feel like quite the accomplishment!
  • Thanks! :)
