Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the various hypnobirthing home study programs? Besides Mongan's, there's also one by Gentle Birth, another one called Hypnobabies; is there a substantive difference?
I can't afford the class, so right now i just have the Mongan book, but I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and do a home study.

Re: Hypnobirthing home studies?
I know theres quite a difference between hypnobabies and hypnobirthing: morgan method.
DH and I have the morgan method book and have read it, we're also taking a class. I don't think theres more for a home study than the book though.
From what ive been told Hypnobabies is the easiest one to teach to yourself. I ordered it and have listened to disc one and really felt like it wasn't doing much, but then DH upset me (which isnt hard with these hormones) and I was able to control my breathing way better than I ever could before.
I have nothing to compare it too, but so far so good. (They don't offer the classes in my area so driving out of town and paying for the class was out of my price range also.)
i'm not familiar with the gentle birth course. i teach HypnoBirthing. i think Hypnobabies is a quality program.
i would not advise anyone to try to learn HypnoBirthing with just the book. the book is just the framework and you miss a lot by not taking the class. since taking the class isn't in the cards for everyone (whether that's for cost, schedule or some other factor), i recommend moms do the Hypnobabies home study course. this program has a robust home study course that is comparable to the materials you get in the class.
unfortunately, at this time, HypnoBirthing does not offer more than the book for home study. if you choose to do this, please do go to the Stork Mall at www.HypnoBirthing.com and purchase the Rainbow Relaxation CD. this is the cornerstone CD for the program - NOT the CD that comes with the book. you should listen to RR every day.
also, if there is a class that is convenient to you, you should contact the instructor and ask if payment arrangements are acceptable, or if she can do a sliding fee. we are all encouraged to make ways for our classes to be affordable to all! it doesn't hurt to ask!
