  • I'm sorry :( I didn't mean to annoy anyone. I'm just nervous about everything going on, hoping for the best and wondering about a bunch of stuff.

I've found a few answers already to my questions, but I was curious as to the probability of boy or girl on Clomid.

    Sorry!

  • I have 2 boys but I think that can be attributed to a trigger shot and timed iui. Please make sure that you are being closely monitored when on clomid and not just taking it blindly with your Ob/gyn.

  • Please tell me this is a joke and you really dont think that clomid will help you get one gender over another.  You do know that clomid deals with your eggs and gender is based on your husbands swimmers... right?

  • not meaning to be rude at all.....its just that its best to lurk on a board sometimes before posting things.....especially to get a feel for the board...this is mostly girls who have "known" eachother for quite awhile ....we've been through eachother struggles on the infertility board and then some of us on the pregnant after infertiity and now here.  There are SOOOO many huge concerns etc when discussing fertiity treatment that after many of us have spent years with this....something as trivial as if clomid can affect gender rubs some the wrong way.....i think especially from someone new to the boards......don't mean to speak for all but thats kinda how i feel

  • clomid does not increase the chance of a male/female- but doing IUI/TI on the day of O does -- theory is that the boy sperm swim faster so if you inseminate on the day of O- they boys get up there faster... if you inseminate a day or so before O- the boys go up and die off- and the girl sperm get there for the O instead.

    I have 3 boys - all from clomid/IUI.

  • See, here's the thing, it is a fair enough question to ask, because it can make a difference, but you won't find a large enough group here to give you any stastical basis. In part because so very many on this board fall into a category that doesn't appear in your options - Clomid resulted in no baby for me.

Add to that the idea that someone might actually wish for a child or a certain gender, and you've got the wrong audience. It isn't preposterous, unless your audience is a group of women who spent years and tens of thousands of dollars praying for ANY baby.

  • Are you trying to ask about whether Clomid sways boy or girl?  I've read somewhere that clomid ALONE sways girl, BUT alot of people do Clomid in conjunction with an IUI (like myself) and because IUI is timed in close timing with O, that would heavily sway boy.  So you aren't going to get an accurate response to this question (apart from the fact this sample size would be so small) by asking this question alone without finding out whether Clomid was taken alone or in connection with an IUI.

And I also agree that a more appropriate place to ask this question would be on a forum about gender swaying and not on a forum dealing with infertility.

  • WOW... Ok, so I either did express myself correctly or maybe something is wrong with having a curiosity.

I so apologize if I have offended anyone with a curiosity.

I would give anything to have a healthy baby, regardless of gender. My main concern is getting my body healthy and being able to even just get pregnant. I've been struggling with this for the last 15 years. So to assume that my question regarding the gender possibility on Clomid was to gender select is kind of offensive to me. I've been doing all sorts of research... again, on Clomid and I've found every possible answer or worry I've had. Along the way the question of gender came up and I was simply curious. My mistake for thinking that perhaps a group of women who, like myself, have struggled to conceive and some might have taken Clomid, might actually provide some insight.

Again, I apologize if this has offended anyone. That was NOT the intention of the question. It was simple curiosity.

And yes, I have been lurking for some time now... over 2 years in fact. I've been lurking all the TTC boards to just learn from others and be more informed.

So in case I didn't make it clear... I wasn't trying to sway the gender in either direction. Just a curiosity.

That being said, yes, I would love a girl. Ever since I started to want children (yes, children - many - I originally wanted 6 - boys and girls) I've wanted a baby girl. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. My father always wanted a girl and he was over the moon when my mom got pregnant with me, from what he tells me. My brother has 2 boys with his first wife, 2 boys with his second and I have a stepson. So yeah, excuse me for wondering what the odds would be, since I had read somewhere about the probability of girl but have seen otherwise.

If I'm blessed enough to actually have a child, I wouldn't care either way, boy or girl, obviously.

To those of you who actually understood my curiosity and either voted or answered... thank you. I do appreciate the feedback, even if it's to just affirm that it really doesn't make a difference either way in any direction.

GL to all of you who are still TTC and blessings to all that already have.

I'm going back to just lurking and keep my curiosities to myself.

    Thanks!

  • And one more thing...

I thought this would be the correct board to ask since this is a board about having success after IF. My mistake.

And I re-read my question just to be sure I wasn't crazy... and I'm pretty sure no where in there do I say I want to take Clomid to gender select. Or do anything else, for that matter, to gender select. I simply said... I really wanted a girl but I would obviously welcome boy or girl.

Perhaps one of my other curiosities which hasn't fully been answered by my searches would have offended someone here, too? And none of them have to do with gender or even a baby. Some curiosities or concerns have to do with my own health.

Geesh, I don't find anyone saying anything mean to ladies who are on Clomid and are asking about hot flashes while on it...even though that has been asked a million times... and is something somewhat trivial in the grand scheme of TTC.

If Clomid will help me get pregnant and have a healthy baby (boy or girl)... bring on the hot flashes, bring on the crazies, bring on whatever!!! Bring on boy triplets! Whatever! I've longed for a child for so long it doesn't matter. Would a curiosity about one of those other things... the crazies, the hot flashes or the possibility of having my cysts rupture... get the same type of negative response? I will never know.

So again... I apologize if I have offended any of you with my question. Rest assure I will not be bothering you ladies again with such petty things in the future.

    Wow, way to overreact.

The way you phrased your post it implies that while you would be "happy" with either, it would only be amazing if you got a girl.  Those of us who have boys, are undertandably miffed by that.  Gender preference posts on infertility boards are not well accepted.  Any other IF topic re side effects, whatever?  Not an issue.  Newbie posting about gender preference?  You got off lightly if you ask me.

If you are looking for a gender-selection friendly community, go to the forums on the in-gender website.

And for the love of Pete, be monitored when you're on clomid.

Husband has cystic fibrosis. I'm a carrier. We did TESE, IVF, ICSI, and PGD. After two failed IVFs, we were blessed with our twins.

  • I over reacted? Did you see the responses I got? I don't think I'm the one who over reacted, with all due respect.

Again, I was not looking for gender selection or anything of the sort. It was a simple curiosity since I've read statements while researching Clomid use, to support both sides. It's not something I would have thought of asking if it wasn't something I keep seeing with everything I read. Again, it was a curiosity that I thought I would poll past Clomid users as to what their result was. Nothing else.

It was meant as a simple, harmless, innocent question and I was blasted inapproriately for it. At the first response, I was hurt and somewhat shocked, but then I was slightly upset that it was taken to that level.

Yes, I have always and will always, continue to want a girl. The same way that I will continue to want a child...period. The same way that I would love a niece, yet absolutely love my nephews. The same way I adore my 1 Goddaughter and adore my 4 Godsons.

I'm not looking to gender select or anything of the sort.
