  • I am PGAL too, so I can see where you are coming from.  We are planning on telling people at 12 weeks.

Your situation is different because you have twins, so it is harder to hide.  If I had a good appointment at 11 weeks I would probably go ahead and tell everyone.  It is so close that I would be comfortable.  Good luck!

  • Oh wow, twins!! Congrats!

I'm waiting to put anything on fb until way in the 2nd tri.  But we've already told family and close friends because we heard the heartbeat. I say do what makes you feel most comfortable.

Sometimes I find myself holding my breath for people who announce their pregnancy right away (on fb that is.) But if you've seen their little hearts beating I know that the risk of miscarriage goes way down!  Good luck to you!

  • We've already told on FB.  We've had two early losses, so once we saw the hb on an u/s that looked good, we decided to go ahead and tell.  IMO, if I lose the baby now, I'm definitely going to want the support of all of our friends, not just the ones that we're super close to.

I think it's completely up to you, though.  If you're just not comfortable telling, then don't...and maybe come up with a couple good comeback answers if anyone notices that you're already showing and actually asks about it.

  • We've told friends and family.  We're PgAL too, and once we saw the hb, we realized that this is the furthest along we've been, so why not share the news?  We would tell everyone if something bad happened again, but we're trying to stay positive about this LO because as of right now, everything looks great.

  • I am showing, too, which has kind of made the decision for us.  Because of this we have told friends who we see on a regular basis.  Our immediate families also know.  We will tell extended family we don't see regularly and other friends we don't see regularly in 2 weeks.

  • We are planning on telling close friends and family on May 2, but it is soo hard to wait that long! I want to scream it from the mountain tops (which sounds dumb), but I also do not want to tell people just in case something happens.

I'm pretty sure you all know the feeling, and there have been a few times when I have just about slipped and told people.

But a person just has to tell people when they feel comfortable with telling. Like others have said, they are telling people who will be there for them if anything should happen.

  • Thanks everyone! We have pretty much already told our close friends and family mostly becuase my six year old hear us talking and came up and asked me if I had two babies in my tummy and I could not lie.. I have to say it scares me that he knows, I do not want to have to tell him again something happened. We will probly post on FB after our appt on Monday, thank you so much for the advice!

  • I'm PGAL too, and our parents know, but we're waiting until 12 weeks to tell everyone else.  I want to hear that heartbeat one more time!!  I'm starting to show, but I only need to hide it for another week or so!  I hope I can make it!

  • I'm just waiting until after our 2nd u/s on Tuesday to make sure both hearts are still beating and growth is on schedule, then I'm making the big announcement.  I've already gotten pointed questions when not drinking at dinner with friends and even if my bump is just bloat, it's getting harder and harder to hide and I think is quickly on it's way to being actual baby bump.  I'm still incredibly worried that something will go wrong, but I figure I'd rather have people thinking good thoughts for me and support if something does happen than to have to suffer through it alone and feel like it's a hidden secret.

  • I'm there with you. Almost 9 weeks with twins, and this is my 2nd pregnancy. We've seen the heartbeats 2x now, so we are seriously considering telling soon.....
