now that DD has started having more and more words, i die laughing at how she mispronounces things and it's just the cutest. so let's here it - what does your LO say that makes you laugh?
DD points to her belly button and says "bay butt".
she calles our dog "woo woo" (Lulu)
cookie is "cookah" (mostly in reference to the monster not the treat)
and my favorite: she calls Elmo "elbow". lol
Re: let's talk about cute mispronunciations
ocean = "oh-sh*t"
buttons = "butts"
My DS says the same thing :-)
DD too! She also loves bananas - they are called "nannies"
DS says octopus "octa-pu"
cookie is "coo-coo"
and grandma is "mag-a" weird!!!
now a question, do you correct them??? or let it go for a while?
like he calls his stuffed lion "roar" but should i say lion after he says roar?
We don't correct her, but we also don't copy the cute mistakes. She says "Ga-goo!" and we say "You're welcome!" but then when she hands us something later, we say "Thank you." We learned to do this after watching my oldest niece say words improperly until she was like, 5, because her parents thought it was so cute to copy her.
Haha Aiden calls buttons "butts" too. Cracks me up. He doesn't do it anymore but instead of thank you he used to always say "dah doe." It was so cute. This morning he went big boy on me and said "Thanks." Blech :-p
ok thanks, the Maga for Grandma we dont say cause we dont want my nephew picking it up also (he's 13mths)
banana = bana
water = law-ler
sit = shiiiit. I love when she says "I shiiiit Mama, I shhiiiit"
And my personal fave....Elmo = Melmo
BLOG: The Quinntessential Mommy
DS is exploding with words and screwing up daily!
Nanny = Banana
Bwock leee = broccoli. (I know it's close but it's darn cute to hear!)
Sh!t used to be shoe but now it's a "Sssooooe!"
And my favorite of them all is "The Mom!" (that's me
) which is spinning off into things like "The Owo!" (Otto the dog) and "The Ahh ahh" which is the sound a monkey makes.
these all had me laughing! so cute!!
and we dont correct either but we dont copy. so when she says "Elbow" i still say "elmo".
oh and to add another... she puts her fingers near her armpits and moves them around and says "tickatickaticka" for tickle tickle tickle
LOL

my favorite recent one is matteo for tomato, because there is a boy at his daycare named Matteo. lol.
I also really like "strawbabies" for strawberries
Your MIL sounds awesome.
You ever watch Thomas the Train? There's a character on there called Percy. My son had trouble with R's. Yep, sounds really bad without the R. He eventually started subsituting W's for R's and L's, so it's a little better, but eesh! Same with clock.
He also used to call water baa-bow. We have no idea where it came from, and it took us forever to figure out what he meant.
Ds called Elmo "Melmo" too! He just recently switched to Elmo
He calls bunnies "baboos" and says "gum" for thank you. No idea where that came from. He also says "koo me" for excuse me.
more = mmmo
cracker = coock o
bubbles = bub bub
up = bup
L.O.L
My son is four and a half, and still has trouble saying his R's. Its the only letter he still can't say. He can't say Percy properly either.
Once she was trying to say bottle so hard and it came out "butt".
I can't think of anything else, of course, she's not saying too awful much yet. She says "gay" every now and then lol
I don't know where she learned it from. She never yells it thankfully. She just says it kind of quietly. She might say it because "hey" is her favorite word and "gay" ryhmes with "hey"... who knows lol.
