TJ's birth story (long)

Tristan James was born 4/4/12 at 3:19pm. He was 7.15lbs and 20.5in long.

My water broke at 12:30am on 4/4, I was very happy that I had splurged on the water proof mattress pad for the bed. I woke up DH and called the on call Dr. I wasn't having any contractions at that point but they wanted me to come in anyway.

It was at this point that it really hit DH that this was it, we are having a baby! He then spent about 10min vomiting due to nerves. He also insisted that we stop at the store for Redbull on our way to the hosp, such a guy.

We got to the hosp. the nurse came in, verified that my water had broke (it was pretty obvious) and asked if we wanted to stay or go home. I felt like there was no point in going home so we stayed. About 10 minutes later the contractions started and within 2 hours they were coming rapidly and strong. I lasted until 5am before I asked for the epidural. It was 6am by the time the anesthesiologist got there and I was more than ready for some pain relief. The epidural was amazing, I slept for quite a while.

We started having some issues with LO's BP and HR and I had to get on my hands and knees in order to get it back to normal. I stayed like that for 2 hours ( I have blisters on my knees now). The nurse was great though and there was a student in the room as well. My SIL came to hang out in the room and my best friend was at the same hosp for cancer treatment and her Dr. let her come up and hang out too. I was feeling great, was joking with everyone and actually having a really good time. When everyone left I was able to lie down and slept AGAIN.

Around 3pm my Dr. came in and checked me, I was 10cm, and she could see LO's head! He was ready to go. I pushed for about 15 minutes and TJ was born! I tore, a 3rd degree and ended up with a few sutures. It's sore but getting better.

My LO is worth it all. He is so sweet and adorable and a BFing champ!
