You all were so helpful a couple weeks ago when I asked about dresses for a wedding tomorrow! I ordered them right away...4 dresses, in fact. I even confirmed the order on the phone, mentioning what it was for and when, and she said, "As long as you don't need it by Easter, you'll be fine."
It's still not here! It's not scheduled to be here until Tuesday!
It's been scanned in the next city over where DH works. Great, right? I called UPS and they said he can't pick it up because they wouldn't be able to get to it off the truck.
I called JCP and they don't have any in stock in any size of any of the four.
DH is going to stop at UPS anyway to see if he can get it.
I can't go shopping tonight because I have to leave in an hour to go volunteer through the wee hours tonight. And then we have to leave first thing in the morning to drive to the wedding...passing the UPS hub where my dresses sit. (Backup plan is that he fails tonight but somehow they retrieve it for pickup tomorrow? I leave for the wedding in jeans and then have four dresses to try on? Ack!)
If that doesn't work, I have nothing! I could wear the maternity dress I wore to the last wedding I went to 4.5 years ago!?!
So, so much for putting my $50 credit to good use. Easy come easy go...now I'm SOL! Ack again!

Re: &(*@# JCP!
NOT cool. They need to make that right. I bet Nordstrom would come out and deliver a dress to your house tonight if they did that.
I hope he'll get lucky tonight-- I'm pretty sure UPS is closed on weekends. Where is the wedding and what time? Maybe you'll have time to run in somewhere on the way or in the town of the wedding? So sorry.
Do you have any friends who could bring you over some dresses to borrow? You could try them on when you get home tonight? OR do you trust your DH to go and pick something up for you that you see online?
The last resort is to stop somewhere on the way tomorrow. Leave an hour early and stop somewhere.
That totally sucks! I would be furious!
Thanks, ladies! If this weren't one of my best ever friends and the first time our whole group will have been together in 6 years, I wouldn't care so much!
And you're SOOOO right about Nordy's. I love Nordy's. If t weren't for the $50 credit, I would never have thought of JCP. I was totally surprised that I ended up liking what I found online there!
I'd already been on the phone a few times before posting and I've been on the phone ever since. DH is just leaving the hub without the package, but after a long 5-way phone call with JCP, they're going to TRY to pull it off the truck tonight so we can pick it up tomorrow.
So best case scenario is that I'll be trying on 4 dresses right before the wedding tomorrow, straight out of the box. Lovely, no?
Fortunately everyone was really helpful on the phone just now, impressively so, but that doesn't change the fact that they held onto the order for a week before shipping it!
And now I have to go scarf down something to eat before running out for the rest of the night, tag-teaming DH at the door; hopefully there won't be bad traffic since it'll be tight as it is. And we'll be leaving extra early tomorrow just with hopes of getting the dresses. Geographically it wouldn't be out of the way at all, thankfully, but goodness knows I didn't expect to dress for one of my best friend's weddings like this! No time to worry about it now!
(I'll take a quick minute to do a once-over in my closet -- if it's THAT bad I'll have DH run to the store!)
Thanks, y'all!

It wasn't intercepted NOR given to USPS like they said was going to happen late last night, but rather put on a UPS truck to come to the UPS location here. They're not answering their phone. So DH is on his way to go up there while I get in the shower. I'm guessing they're closed on Saturday since it's not a main hub like the place yesterday which we'll be driving right past soon anyway. Damn.
My bride friend was on FB last night so she saw where I said "no dress" and all about the gas smell, so I think she'll be forgiving! Ha! She's getting PERFECT weather so at least there's that!
Oh, and the roofer said he has no clue about the smell. He'll stop by while we're gone this afternoon to be sure.

Thanks! Unfortunately, big fat fail -- he's on his way home. I hope he can get showered and ready quickly -- we have to leave now, LOL!
I am deciding between a sundress (I have many sundresses, with one selected on my bed) or a pretty skirt and top that I bought for a bridal shower of *mine* and likely haven't worn since! Eeek!

That is beyond frustrating!
I'm sorry. I hope you have a great time at the wedding though!
