1st appointment confused & frustrated

I had my first appointment yesterday. I am so frustrated now. I had my LMP on 2/12 I took a HPT on 3/9 and got a BFP. According to this site and several apps my EDd is November 18. I should be 8 weeks and 5 days. I have a 28 day cycle do I should have ovulated around day cd 14 or 15. The doctor had to do a transvaginal ultrasound. He states I am super early. We did not see a baby only a sac. He states I should be 5 almost 6 weeks and not 8 almost 9. I really don't understand this. This is my first I am so confused. I started crying on the table, I felt like a big baby. Has this ever happened to anyone else. I have to go back in two weeks for a second. Does anyone have any suggestions!!! Thanks in advance.

I am sorry you are going through this. If you don't chart, you don't know for sure when you o'd. You may not have a 14d LP and therefore could have o'd a few days later, which would put implantation a few days back as well. Did you have beta draws to check for doubling? If yes, check your numbers on www.betabase.info. Also, can you see about having your repeat scan in a week, rather than 2. Even if you were only 5w, by 6w the doc may be able to see a hb on u/s. Again, sorry you are in limbo. Sending +ve vibes and prayers your way.

Unless you chart there's no way to know for certain when you ovulated. It is possible that you ovulated late in your cycle which would account for some of the time difference. It's unfortunate that you need to wait for two weeks. I'd be goin crazy! Did they do any blood work to check your hcg levels? Also, did you explain your dates to your doctor?

Well I don't know if I am going to be of any help BUT I had my first ultrasound April 5th and I thought I was about 8w4d at the time. The doctor said he couldn't get a great picture of my baby but what he "could" measure said I was a week behind, but my baby had a HB of 166bpm so I wasn't worried. My cycle has always been wack so I can not be positive of when conception happened. I also go back the 19th for another ultrasound to try and get a better estimate for my due date. I wouldn't worry too much (which I know is way easier said than done!) Just remain calm until your next appt!

You cannot be sure of your ovulation date, as previous posters have said, but with a positive HPT on 3/9 I would be concerned about where the baby was measuring. Even if you were able to get a positive test at 1 week gestation you would be further along.

I hate to be the negative one here, but I don't think that this sounds good and I wanted to be honest. I am so sorry and I hope that your appointment in two weeks shows a baby with a heartbeat. I will keep you and LO in my prayers for your next US.

yes this happened to me. i ovulated late, my doctor stated. all we seen was the sac. then went in the next week and there was my little baby with a heart beat

Yep, definitely possible that you ovulated late. I went in expecting to be 7 weeks at least according to my LMP. But I was 6 wks 1 day. It was a little disspointing but I still saw baby and heartbeat so I wasn't too upset and didn't have to go back for another. Don't let it get to you too much. Hopefully in 2 weeks you'll go in and see that heartbeat and all will be well!

Thanks for the responses. I didn't chart, so I really don't know when I ovulated. I took HPT three days before my missed period. I will be out of town next week, so this is why I have to wait two weeks. I have not had any spotting or bleeding so I am hoping I just ovulated later or the baby is just moving at a slower pace. The doc did not change my due date and states we should have better picture in two weeks. He did say at 5 weeks, you would only see a sac. Keep me in your prayers. Thanks.

I'm in agreement. If you got a positive HPT on 3/9, I don't think you could have ovulated too much later than you think. At the absolute latest (and your test line would have been pretty faint) probably 3/1 or 3/2 and you'd still be about 8 weeks along. I'm not trying to freak you out, I just think you need to call your doctor's office and explain that you can't be as far behind as they think and insist on a sooner appt.

((hugs)). Does your doctor know that you got a +hpt on 3/9?

Even if you got a super-super-duper early +hpt (like 7dpo), that would put you at 8 weeks today, making your conception date after your +hpt.

Your doctor estimated you about 5 weeks (give or take) because he saw a sac, but not a fetal pole or hb.

I am so sorry you are going through this. This is a long shot, but how confident are you in the pregnancy test you took? Was it pink dye or blue dye? Did you read it within the specified time window? Is it at all possible that you got a false positive and then conceived the following week?
