  • The Ergo sucked for us, only bc the straps are thin and it didn't feel super supportive. So I sold it and bought the Beco Gemini. The straps are wide and padded and it's so comfy. I still wear her in it! And so does my husband. I hear wonderful things about the Boba, too!

  • I live the Ergo but for traveling, I just use a sling so that I don't have to deal with any bulk or straps etc.
  • Boba. Like the Ergo, but bigger and with stirrups to take pressure off dangling legs :) I also find it much more comfortable to wear.

  • For a structured carrier either a Ergo Sport or a Toddler Kinderpack are great.  If you are looking for a used one check out thebabywear.com they have a FSOT board that rocks.

My favorites though are probably Mei Tais.  We have a Kozy that I love, not too bulky pretty quick on and offs, the straps can take some getting used to but it's fanastic and by far my Mei Tais are getting the most use right now.  Ring slings are also fantastic so if you can pick up a linen or linen blend they are great.

Can you tell we do a lot of wearing here? :)

  • I love our Manduca.  It's very similar to an Ergo, but I think the straps are a bit wider.  It's easy to get him in and out of it on my own in the front carry, the back carry I still have to work on getting him in on my own.  If you don't normally wear your toddler, be prepared for an adjustment period.  I would buy one soon and wear them in it before your trip so they get used to it.  Some kids just take to them, but I've had friends whose kids hated being carried and would scream the entire time.

  • I have a kelty backpack that I use to carry S and all her stuff. It cannot be packed into a suitcase though, since it has a frame.  I am also not cool enough to get the ergo on my back with the kid in it by myself, which I can do with my kelty.

this.  I love it and it is super supportive and padded enough for me.  I still wear her on my back with no pain or discomfort and I'm almost 30 weeks pregnant.  Of course, there isn't one carrier that is best for everyone.  If you can, see if there is a store by you to try them on and see what feels best for you.

  • I'm in the "woven" camp.  Easy to pack too.

  • Ergo!

  • My husband, daughter and I all love the Ergo.  i've never used another structured carrier, though, so i don't really have anything to compare it to.

i still use my ring sling some, too.
