Overnight Pull Ups/Diapers

Hi, I don't usually post here, more on the May board because I'm pregnant but I was wondering if you ladies could help me. My DS is potty training but most of the time he doesn't wake up at night if he has to go. I don't know if its because he's just bigger or what but every night he pees right through his diaper. Like enough to soak the bed. We limit fluids after dinner, we've tried all sorts of diapers and pull ups. Anyone have a brand preference that seems to hold more fluid? Thanks!

They sell those overnight pants for bigger kids that have bed wetting problems.  Maybe you could make that work somehow.  I have never used them.  Just a thought.   https://www.diapers.com/p/pampers-underjams-mega-pack-for-boys-15685

Hmm never heard of these before, I'll have to try it! Thanks!

  • We use underjams and Good nights.  They are pretty big on DS but work like a charm.

  • We are currently using GoodNights b/c 5yo DS grew out of the largest Pull Up.  He can still pee out of a GoodNight though......doesn't happen very often but I two nights ago it did.  I usually have 2-3 layers of sheets with those waterproof washable bed pads/crib protector type things underneath each layer just where he would lay....so if he does pee out, we strip a layer and there is a dry layer underneath.

  • I would say absolutely no liquid after dinner (dinner being at 6:00) - so 6:30 on (if he goes to bed around 8:00 or so). Only a tiny sip of water at teeth brushing time.

You could always try dream peeing. I knew someone that did that and it worked. (wake him up to go pee in the middle of the night). They wake up just enough to go and easily fall back to sleep.

  • We use pampers overnight diapers and DS seems to be doing pretty well waking up just a little wet.

We have also had to add a diaper booster when he was not doing such a great job in addition to the overnight diaper... this worked fantastic!  We only stopped using them lately as he was not wetting as much.

  • We do the dream pee with my DD who is fully potty trained and has been for a while, it works great, she never has overnight accidents.  We just take her to the potty right before she goes to bed then we take her again when we go to bed, usually around midnight.  She doesn't wake up at all.

My DS we are just now potty training and he's a total diaper soaker - thank you for posting this question, we used the pull up overnights last night and limited liquids and they worked okay - but like I said it was only one night.  I usually had to wash his sheets 3-4 nights a week when he was in diapers.

  • I found that for my daughter the Huggies pull ups leaked a lot and the pampers easy ups worked better.   Though i am using up our Huggies little movers and they work great too!  I just tell her they are sleeping diapers and she has no problem getting them off when she wakes up in the morning.
