I've heard that BFing can prevent the growth of endo the same way pregnancy can b/c you're not getting a period. I've been exclusively pumping/bottle feeding, DS is almost 6 months old, and basically the only reason I'm still hanging on is b/c I fear that if I stop BFing my endo will come back (I had stage II/III removed in July '10). We're not planning on TTC #2 for a while - we haven't even broached the subject yet. Does anyone know anything about this?

Re: Endo and BFing
BFing did not prevent my endo from growing back. I ended up with a lap to remove it due to pain issues 2 years PP.
Sorry!
This is interesting since I have never heard that BFing keeps endo at bay.
I am almost 6months pp and my endo pain is starting to flare up again (I've had regular periods since 7weeks PP).
I am so bummed because I thought pregnancy and the lack of a cycle with BFing would keep my endo from growing back quickly and we'd have a shot at conceiving #2 naturally.
I've EBF twins, and I got AF back at 9 months (they were on solids by then, of course.
My last lap removed my left ovary, which is where I had most of my pain.
Either way, my AF is not painful right now.
Maybe a mirena would keep AF away and help keep the endo at bay? Not sure if you can do that while BFing or not.
Hmmm. Do you plan to use birth control once you are done BFing? Because birth control is also rumored to keep endo at bay.
FWIW I don't think my endo came back at all after I stopped BFing. My periods were pretty breezy compared to pre-baby cycles. Of course, I only had 9 cycles so maybe it was only a matter of time... but given that I had to have 2 laps in one year because my endo grew so damn fast, I was pretty surprised I wasn't having much pain at all as the months went on.
