Shower?

I had my staples removed last Monday. Nurse said I should not take a shower til 7 days after. I gave myself a sponge bath on Tuesday. Didn't shower yesterday. Ready to jump in the shower NOW! I feel so gross! Any tips on how to shower without getting the incision too wet? I was thinking of covering it with a pad and using medical tape to hold it in place. Any suggestions?

Seriously??? I had glue instead of staples, but I took a shower the day after my c/s. I didn't do anything special with my incision. I just avoided scrubbing it with the poof.

They let me take a shower when the staples were on. Now there's steri strips and she said to avoid it getting too wet.

When I got my staples out I had the steri strips and they never told me that I couldn't take a shower, but to just be careful for a few days and not allow the area to get really wet.

Yikes, no shower for 7 days? I would go crazy. Maybe call and double check with the office?

I've never heard of such a thing. No swimming, sure. But no shower? That's silliness. I showered every day from the day after my c-section. They just said to make sure to pat the area dry after showering. Easy enough.

Did she mean bath? I took a shower on day 3 after c/s and have showered every day since. Didn't get my staples removed until this Monday (DS was born last Tuesday). This is the first time I've had to wait that lon3 days to shower (OB came in while I was BFing and didn't remove my bandage, otherwise I could have showered on day 2).

I think your nurse gave you the wrong info. I was told to shower every day for seven days after I had mine removed to keep the incision clean.

ETA: I also got new steri strips when they removed the staples. She said they would naturally start to peel and I could take them off when they were about to fall off on their own.

I showered WITH my staples and the day they took them out with steri strips on too. I've never heard of that. I just always made sure it was super dry when I got out and used a blow dryer on the cool setting.

Uhh... I definitely had a shower BEFORE my staples came out. They came out on Day 4 after the c/s with DS and I definitely showered the day after he was born.

Don't purposely soak them but yes, you can shower. Also, just lightly tap a towel over the incision to dry it afterwards.

I had 20 staples and took a shower about 16-20 hours after my c/s. They removed my staples about 27-28 hours after my c/s and I went home. I only covered my incision for my comfort (rubbing on pants--wishing to use the belly band, etc). I shower with exposed staples and showered right after they were removed with my incision exposed. I had zero issues. They told me not to scrub the incision (obviously) but otherwise I was free.

I showered the next day in the hospital and was told to shower every day after that until the steri strips were off. I was supposed to lightly risnse incision too. I had staples.

I had stitches + steri-strips and th only thing that kept me from showering the sameda as my C-sec was that I still had IVs and a urinary catheter in.

I hope by now you've treated yourself to a nice shower!
