P.U. killed a potato in the microwave and can't get rid of the smell

This happened on Tuesday night and the house STILL stinks.   I was microwaving a sweet potato and I must have put it in for too long.  next thing I know the microwave is smoking and the potato had pretty much disintegrated into a black mess.   I opened all the windows immediately afterward.   Of course I shut the windows when no one is home (afraid of a break in) and when we are asleep.  What else can I do?  It's a smokey smell if that makes sense.  Light some candles maybe?

    I would clean out the microwave for sure each time you run it, it can make the house stink up again.  You can use either of these ways to make it smell fresh and clean.  Not sure what to do about the rest of the house.  Good luck!


    Get a thick slice of lemon, put it on a paper towel, and microwave it on high for at least one to two minutes. Let it stand overnight.Put half a cup of bottled lemon juice in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave it again for one to two minutes. It's also okay to dilute the juice with water. Add several whole cloves.
