Concerts...Whats your opinion??

Hey Ladies!

I just found out that my favoritest band in the whole world HANSON is coming to Summerfest (here in Milwaukee). I will be around 5 months at this point. It's outside and in July. It will be hot, and with a lot of people drinking. I'm thinking it may not be good to go. My fears are getting dehydrated, tired and no where to rest in a convenient place, or worse getting elbowed in the tummy by crazy fans! Am I crazy for thinking I can't go? Or is it a total legit thought? Thanks in advance! :)

Re: Concerts...Whats your opinion??

  • 1) How crazy does the crowd really get at an Hanson concert?  It's not like it's Disturbed or Death Before Dishonor where people will be moshing Wink  That being said, with any crowd comes the danger of being pushed or shoved so you would need to be careful of that.

    2) I think if you really want to go you should go.  Bring water with you if you're allowed to do so or just bring extra money to purchase it.  If it's at a venue where it's on a lawn, I'd bring a blanket so if you need to you can find a less crowded space and laydown.  I'd also bring snacks like oranges or apples or something that is a "watery" snack to help you keep hydrated.

If there was a band coming to my area that I really wanted to see I would do it, you won't be too big at 5 months - if you were 7+ months I'd say you may want to wait to get your tickets until you see how you're doing at that point in case you're starting to get uncomfortable, but at 5 months you should be good!  I say go for it!

  • Hanson likes to get the crowd jumping a lot. They get us involved and I love that!! :)

But, you are exactly right. I guess I could go and not fight my way to the front like I usually do ;) Thanks for the advise! I guess I just needed someone else to tell me it's ok. I'm already such a protective mom!!

  • I'd say rock out, you'll be fine...

Not going to lie- I totally embarrassed my brother and sister the other day while out to dinner for pizza. MmBop came on, and I sang every. Word. Of. It. Lol. It was so....4th? 5th grade for me? Haha

Now we're talking.  I'd take my pregnant butt out to see me some Aerosmith or Bon Jovi under basically any circumstance.

  • I'm going to a bunch of country concerts this summer but I decided to skip motley cure/kiss b/c of the crowd. I'd do Hanson!

  • Yep go for it because once you have a child it makes it harder to get out and do a lot of things.  Just because your pregnant don't miss out on things you normally would do or else you will regret it in the future

  • I was going to say I'd probably sit it out since it's a festival (if it was at an arena or stadium with seats I would definitely go an not think twice), but then I read this.  If it were Nsync, I would be there in a heartbeat, probably at multiple locations around the country.

  • Ha! Do not be embarrassed for me. In fact, Hanson has steadily released albums since they made it big in 1996. They haven't been as popular since then, but they have always been around with new stuff. They aren't just coming back for a 'reunion' tour. It's for their latest album Shout It Out. And now you know! :)

  • I will be attending the Madonna concert in Atlantic City in Sept and I will be 7 months by then.  I have no intention of missing that concert.  I am certain my child will appreciate me taking her/him to such an awesome show.

Totally agree!!!! I saw them once when I was in 7th grade in Jacksonville, and was by far one of the BEST concerts I've ever been to!

DH wanted me to go to an Iron Maiden concert in mid August which would put me at about 29 weeks.  The concert is in Houston, and we live in Florida...I told him he must have lost his mind!!! ;)

I sure hope it's ok because I got tickets for all 3 nights of DMB at the Gorge (AND 3 nights camping) over labor day... I'll be 7 mos! I bought these tix pre-pregnancy, and I sure as hell ain't giving them up ;)

I wouldn't give them up for a second either!! I have my DMB Pit tickets for May 29th & while I'm a little nervous, I can't wait!!!  Just beacuse I'm pregnant doesn't mean I can't have fun!!  We also have tickets for Def Leppard in July & Kiss with Motley Crue in August.  I hope I still feel up to it that late in the summer...the humidity can be brutal here!

I saw them in Jacksonville too! Iron Maiden in mid August.. I'd say he was crazy too. It's hot enough here in Florida in August, not the time I'd want to travel :)

  • I think as long as it's not super rowdy with a mosh pit, I think it's fine.   I have a huge country concert at Wrigley Field in Chicago and I can't wait!   I got the tix before I got KU.  I am sure my DH will have words to say about the dangers but I'll worry about that later. :)
