I'm in the middle of my spring break (I'm a kindergarten teacher), and all four books that I have ordered have come in! I feel like I can't get enough of reading these inspirational natural birth books! I'm hoping to finish all four by the time we go back to school on Monday. My poor hubby is very supportive, but I know he has to be getting tired of hearing me go on and on about the new "cool thing I just read." ;o)
So far I just finished Birthing From Within. I loved it! I'll be honest, the first section about birth art and modeling clay, etc. kind of weirded me out (I opted not to try it on my own), but I realized that reading through it helped me to confront some of my similar fears about the birthing process.
I'm in the middle of Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and I can barely stand to put it down! The stories are so inspiring. I feel like the more I read and research (I'm working on a Hypnobirth), the more excited I feel and empowerd I feel about birth. I was a little scared and apprehensive when I first got pregnant when I would think about giving birth, but now I find myself looking forward to it! Hopefully the feelings stick when that time comes... ;o)
Anyway, I'm still looking forward to reviewing my Hypnobirth book and reading Husband Coached Birth.
Re: LoViNg these books!!
I hear you. I finally got myself a library card and checked out a few books. I finished "Your Best Birth" in a weekend and am currently reading "The Complete Idiots Guide to Natural Childbirth". They can be very repetative....but I like that becaues it is making it easier and easier for me to explain what I want for my birth experience and why.
I even got my husband to sit down and watch "The Business of Being Born" on Tuesday. Now, he is fully on board with hiring a doula and is on the same page as me for not wanting any unnecessary interventions, etc.
That is such a great idea! I will ask my midwife if she has that at our next appointment. I'm all about some visualizations, girl!
PS: your little Henry is so cute!
