So I am starting to look into Pre-school programs (3 and 4 year olds, kindergarden in our state isn't allowed up 5), and all of them seem to be part day with no after care options. For example, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am until 11am. My question is, how do you work around this? I get that going to a pre-school would be good for LO, however, this doesn't really jive with my husband and I working fulltime. The only thing that we've come up with is some sort of nanny situation. Any thoughts?
Re: Preschool....half day only?
This.
We actually have K3 in the public schools here but it's the same as you describe, from about 9 to 11:15 with no before or after care. We have a babysitter who would watch our son after he was done with school but the tricky part was always the transportation. We were lucky that my husband's schedule the year our son was in K3 allowed him to take him to school everyday and then I had a long list of people who I would ask to pick him up. Sometimes it was my husband, sometimes it was my parents, sometimes my sister, etc. It was stressful.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
This Cluttered Life
I think some pre-school do have after care programs. Some daycares even have pre-school check into it when you do your reseach. I have my LO in an early learning/ Preschool program. She was in the same school the daycare is ran out of, but split into age groups.
Good Luck with your search!
