  a c/p betas are usually lower, not doubling and your period arrives.  nothing will ever be visible on an u/s with a c/p.

  they usually suspect ectopic when you have rising but not doubling whacky betas.  ultimately, you would need an u/s to determine but you won't see anything on an u/s until betas reach a certain #

  It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.

  I agree with worms.

  My 2nd IVF my beta was a 6.  RE didnt even bother to do a 2nd beta or u/s.  He said number was too low and was a cp.

  I am AMA and all tests on H came back normal
  3 failed IVF with OE and 2 failed frozen DE cycles
  Last fresh hail mary DE cycle starting Feb 2013
  PAIF/SAIF always welcome

  With my ectopic at first my beta went up and then down, so we thought it was a c/p - but then it went up again. It continued this pattern of rising not doubling, then down a little, then back up, etc. After my betas reached I think 2000 (the point when something would be visible on u/s), they looked but there was nothing in my uterus. They actually couldn't find where it implanted so it was a presumed ectopic and I had methotrexate.

  One last ditch effort at OE IVF (antagonist with Clomid) cancelled
  DE cycle #1 Jan/Feb 2011, BFP, ectopic
  DE cycle #2 June/July 2011 - BFP
  10/28/11 Baby girl lost at 17 weeks due to pre-term labor. We love and miss you.
  DE cycle #3 June/July 2012 - BFP, twins, both heartbeats stopped, D&C
  2 frosties but don't know what's next
  FET Dec 2012: BFP! Praying this one sticks for the long haul!

  This is exactly what happened with mine-they should have been able to see something b/c my betas were high enough, but couldn't.

  And no-just off betas alone there is no way to tell-wacky betas can mean a number of things.  I'm sorry you're going through this!

  If it continuosly low betas they assume c/p.  (Or at least did with me.)  I believe ectopic are higher numbers but don't continue to rise appropriately.
