"A - La"
I had a sweet little girl named this in my class last year, but can't remember how she spelled it! Is it Ejla? It's suppose to be emphasis on the "A" and then "La" like la la la. If Ejla is correct, are there any other ways to spell it??
Thanks!
Re: How do you spell this girl name?
Never heard of it. My first instinct is Allah.
I know I-La is Isla. Not sure if that's relevant but I thought I'd throw it out there in case you got the vowel sounds mixed up.

It's not pronounced like Allah - It's "A" as in, day. Or, like you were saying, "Eh"
So, "Eh-La"
I looked it up just now and found that it is: Ejla...but I don't like that spelling.
Some people also spell it Ayla, but I wouldn't want people to confuse the "Ay" for an "I" sound.
Help!! I love this name!
Can't you look up the records from last year and see how the girl's name was spelled?
Schools (even daycares) have to keep records longer than a year.

I looked it up after I posted this, and it was spelled: Ejla.
I think I would prefer a different spelling though.
Thanks for the research, Lady! I am liking: Aylah and Eyla from your list.
I think others are right when they say it's a name that will probably get mispronounced often...=( hmm....
Me too.
ETA: Sorry, didn't see your later post. I think the Ayla spelling is most straightforward.

To be fair, at first glance I thought this was a La-a related post, too
. I sounded out Adashla and everything before I realized the OP meant Ayla.
This name really grew on me in Clan of the Cave Bear. I would recommend reading it if you're considering the name, since it's the most common reference point people will have.
And obviously, I like the spelling Ayla best.
