somewhat graphic post about pooping during delivery

I guess I've accepted that if I poop while pushing, I poop while pushing. Whatever. But I've been eating all these flax seeds to try to keep me regular, and now I have seeds in my poop. So if I poop on the table, it's going to have seeds all in it like some kind of wild animal scat. lol.

And as if that weren't bad enough, we had corn on the cob tonight. As I was eating it, I thought, omg, now if I go into labor tonight, I'm going to have CORN poop in addition to seedy poop. :-/

Re: somewhat graphic post about pooping during delivery

  • I doubt they really stop to examine your poop when they are waiting for the baby to come out. I wouldn't worry too much about it. :)

  • I ate blueberry waterice about 2 days before going into labor. I ended up with the typical pre-labor "clean out" that everyone mentions, so I thought I was good. But then I noticed it was BRIGHT green. I felt like I went enough in early labor, so I wasn't worried. I had no idea I even did it, but DH saw. (Mortified!). He burst into laughter when he realized it was bright green. My midwife was really good about covering it quickly, and continuing with my pushing. Now I know, no blueberry waterice, no corn, and no seeds!

  • Yeah, hopefully not. Sometimes the seeds are a bit alarming, though!

    Ha!

That reminds me to lay off the parsley and spinach too.

  • I have no comment but I have to say your poop posts nearly always make me lol. Or I learn something! I still remember your post months ago on pooping technique and respect you as the poop master!

Lol, this!  Tambcat's poo posts almost always make giggle, and this one is no different.  If I ever have any questions about poo I know who to ask!

lol.. oh man, that was a more innocent time. A time before the second half of pregnancy. A time before hemorrhoids... *gazes dreamily into the distance*

I've been lucky enough to still be able to go most days, but I admit it has been pretty frustrating and unsatisfying at times! I've been making good use of the feet-up-on-the-bathroom-trash-can maneuver.

  • Hahah. I have to say that I was terrified of pooing on the table until I did it. Let me tell you, it was the stinkiest poo I've probably ever had so there was no mistaking what happened (even thought the epi worked so well I couldn't feel it). I kept saying, "I am so sorry!" but they didn't care and said they see it all the time. In retrospect, I am actually glad I pooped because it showed me that I was pushing properly (thanks to my OB for pointing that out to me). Unfortunately, I also ended up with a nice hemmi becauase of it and ended up with a C-section too so I get to experience the best of both PP woes.

:) I had some serious issues and finally started with the colace way back in November. I ran out the other day and didn't take it or a few days, what a mistake! I can't wait to be back to normal pp. I have somehow avoided hemorrhoids thus far, but I have my wipes on stand by! Good lord I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

  • I think my hemmies are internal, and I haven't had any pain or bleeding from them, but I can tell they are there. My butt feels different. I hope they don't come bustin' out during delivery.
  • Tambcat, you crack me up! agree with the other posters about the hilarity of your poop posts Big Smile

FWIW, one of my BFFs is a nutritionist, and she told me that flax seeds eaten whole are virtually useless - that you really need to digest them ground in order for them to work (the little shells prevent absorption, apparently). If you switch to ground flax instead, you won't have a "seed" problem on the table. Can't help you with the corn though- LOL! Sending labor dust your way regardless:)

I may or may not have used your suggestions when I was dealing with really bad constipation in 2nd tri.

  • I have this fear right now about going into labor only because l took a laxative this morning to see if it would help relieve me of my lower back pain.

  • LOL! The mat ward nurses are going to be able to track you like sasquatch if you try to get away from them.

Tabcat, what is this method they are talking about! I may need some tips for getting relief!
