UTI - Is this normal?

I have a urinary tract infection, I found out when the doctors took my blood test at my first prenatal appointment. That would be fine enough since they gave me antibodies....however I'm totally freaked out by these bumps all over my vaginal area...I don't have any std's (since its me and my husband) or they would have shown up in the blood test right? These bumps BURN they seriously hurt, and it seem like I have vaginal sweeling or something. I'm at the end of my rope! I walk like I'm months into my pregnancy because of the pain. I'm only two months.I've scheduled a visit to the doctor and it just can't come soon enough. I'm putting a cream for the pain in the meantime. Please tell me that this is all apart of pregnancy?? This is the first infection I've ever gotten :(

Re: UTI - Is this normal?

  • First off, I've never heard of a uti being diagnosed by a blood test. It is a simple urine test from my experience. Second of all, it does not involve external bumps.  Third, sexually transmitted infections can be diagnosed by blood test and vaginal swabs, but only if they are specifically testing for them.  Fourth, I would avoid putting creams on it until you know what you are dealing with since it could be an allergic reaction or making the bumps worse.
