To add insult to injury, I am 2 cm dilated as of this morning, without even having labored yet.
Went to the hospital right after my checkup to see if they could turn her, but the Version was not successful.
So...now, it's either a) see if a miracle happens and a) she turns then b) I go into labor before the 9th when my docs had me schedule RCS, or b) call a spade a spade, give her till Friday (due date), and then bump the RCS up to her official due date so I can get the healing process started and have my Mom here for as much as possible time to help me with that, and my 2.5 yr old (she is flying in Friday).
My DH feels that if she's not likely at this point to budge, we should bump up the c-sec so I don;t go into labor, b/c so many RCS'ers say it's easier to recover from the surgery when your body doesn't have to get worn out by labor first. He's also worried about the risks of me laboring when she's breech, then having a more "rushed" experience with the surgery. Have to say I do understand that.
Anyone have any thoughts or hail Mary stories for me?? So bummed right now. All this effort and research and hope and thought into the VBAC opportunity, and even last week she was head-down. Not anymore.

Re: 5 days to dday, and she's gone breech. :(
Are you trying spinningbabies?
That and the hypnobabies turn breech baby cd turned DD at 38 weeks.
It's worth a shot especially if she just turned.

PgAL/PAL Welcome
So sorry to hear this. See if there is a chiropractor in your area that does the webster technique. i went a few time with my first LO because she was breech. It didn't help me, but I have heard a lot of success stories!!
Thx gals. Yup - have been seeing a chiro for 2 wks already, since before she turned, and she has used the Webster technique consistently - In this case, seems it made no diff in her turning head-up last-minute.
Also, have been doing Inversion technique from spinningbabies every day, 3 x per day for 3 days now. I swear - I have to wonder if in my case these techniques did exactly what I did not want them to do. I was doing them b/c she was OP - now, she's also breech. Good grief.
I'll check out the hypnobabies - did not do that yet.
Sounds like you've got all your bases covered. That really sucks to come so far and have it end without getting your chance. Good luck - I really hope she turns for you.
Call local accupunturists and see if they will perform "moxibustion" - it's a heat therapy that has a 70-80% success rate, and was recommended by my MW to try over a version, since the version only had a 60% success rate. They should give you the moxa sticks to continue the therapy sessions after you're there - the doctor I saw recommended doing it a few times a day for about 2-3 days. And he said he's had babies turn on his table even.
Also, if nothing works, remember, babies can turn even during labor. I'd strongly push your doctor to let you go into labor naturally and ask to labor up to the last second they and you feel comfortable laboring. That is the one thing I regret is not letting myself labor longer, because now I always wonder "well, would she have turned if I gave her a few more hours?" Plus, labor is beneficial anyway.
But, good luck momma. And I hope your little kidlet spins for you!
- Keep on the spinning babies.
- Add ice to her head during your breech tilts. It turned my kid.. granted she is still little (31 weeks today) but she turned DURING the icing episode so I'm sold.
- Keep with the chiro too.
- Like someone else said, moxibustion!
- Can you swim anywhere? Do that if you can.
- Labor often turns babies. I can see the benefits of moving up the section but I'd give her as much time as possible to do her thing.
Lastly, I really really hope she turns for you!
Several things:
1. Acupuncture and chiropractic, as soon as possible. It is amazing how much help each of those can be for a breech baby.
2. It is normal for a 2nd time mom to be a few cm dilated before labor begins, so that doesn't change the chances that baby could still turn.
3. Especially since you are a 2nd time mom, it is totally possible that your baby could turn, even during labor. 2nd time mamas are more elastic and thus their babies have an easier time moving.
4. If possible, Let yourself go into labor naturally. You and baby both benefit from a bit of labor and you don't have to have 30 hours of labor or something...just wait til your labor starts naturally, and whenever you feel ready go to the hospital for a c-section. It won't be rushed or an emergency. Having labor start naturally ensures that the baby is fully "baked," and having those contractions helps squeeze fluid out of the baby some (even if you have a c-section), which decreases the risk of breathing issues at birth and asthma down the line.
With my first, my son was breech and we tried EVERYTHING to get him to turn, but no dice. I still insisted on going into labor on my own. I happened to eat breakfast right before my water broke, and my contractions started then, so I had about 9 hours of labor while waiting for anesthesiology to clear me. If I was dilating quickly, they could have done the surgery anyway, but there was no rush at all. I wasn't any more exhausted from having some labor than I would have been otherwise, and I knew I'd done all I could to give my baby a good start.
