I love to read, but I haven't been making it a priority. Last year I read maybe a book a month (which, for me, is bad). I set a goal of 50 books this year, thinking it would be great to strive for it, but I'd never accomplish it. But, as of today, I have finished 25! I think four were audiobooks during my commute, but the rest were actually read. I have cut my TV watching down drastically at night -- I think I watch 2 to 3 hours a week now (depending on whether Glee is new, lol). And my Kindle makes it so easy, too -- now I always have my current book with me, so if I get stuck at the dentist or something, I can pick up where I left off. And I've only actually bought a few books (most for $.99) - the rest were from the library!
Thanks for letting me AW! I'm proud of myself for making reading a priority again!
Re: Can I AW? Half-way to my reading goal for 2012!
Wow, 25 books is awesome! Can you pick a favourite so far?
I need to try to do that too. I think I've read seven or eight books so far this year, which is actually way better than last year.
Go, go, go you book loving Mamma, you!!
I have no idea how many I've read but I know without a doubt that it's easily doubled since I've stared reading kindle and overdrive books on my phone because like you I can crank out a couple of pages at odd times more easily now.
I am also reading more now that I'm using good reads to keep track of what I want to read. Now I always have 3-6 on hold at the library and can space them out according to how long the wait lists are so they come in at a pace I can keep up with.
Before I'd finish one thing then take a week or so to figure out what to read next and then have to wait another week for it to come in. Now they're lined up and hitting back to back quite nicely!
Wish you lived closer so we could do a IRL book club together!

wow that's awesome!!
I wish I could find time to read.

Yes, I love Goodreads, too. I started using it a few years ago, after I got to the very end of a book, only to realize I had read it before. Oops. Between the library holds and the stash of $.99 kindle deals I've collected, I feel like I always have something to read next.
A real-life book club would be so much fun!
There are a bunch that I've really enjoyed. Here are a few that stand out --
The Story of Beautiful Girl by Rachel Simon (moved into my top 5 favorite books ever!)
Stories I Only Tell My Friends by Rob Lowe (listened to on audio -- read by Rob Lowe)
The Fault in Our Stars -- John Green
Bloom -- Kelle Hampton
Ready Player One -- Ernest Cline
I've also been plowing through the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward. They are kind of like vampire smut, lol. Not the best writing, but I have been enjoying them.
