C-sections

Tight pants causing spotting?

Hi all.  This is my first c-section.

I stopped bleeding around 3.5 weeks pp, and the swelling in my belly is down enough that I started wearing my normal pants about a week ago.  I swear my tighter fitting pants are making me have light pink spotting.  Spotting doesn't seem to be an issue during yoga pants days.

Any thoughts on this?  Like when will it stop?  I only have a tiny bit of tenderness around the incision, the pants aren't causing pain.

BTW, I am not going back to my maternity clothes.

Re: Tight pants causing spotting?

  • The spotting is most likely caused by increased activity, not your pants.

  • Just so I'm understanding correctly, you are saying that you noticed spotting like on your pad or blood from your incision?

  • Pad.

    The incision is fine.

  • Hmm, then no I wouldn't think it would be caused by the pants but can you just wear things that are a little looser around the waist for a while longer? Do you have any skirts or bigger pants that would work?

  • Well, if they are way tight, I suppose it could contract the uterus and cause bleeding, but spotting off and on for 6 weeks is totally normal. If you aren't in pain, wear what you want.

  • Like a PP said - its very common to bleed up to 6 weeks. I personally stopped bleeding at about 2 weeks pp then it started back up with spotting at about 4 weeks and didnt stop till about 6.5. So it probably really has nothing to do with the clothing
