We are taking a weeklong trip to Sonoma and Yosemite and won't really be able to wash our diapers. I'm planning on using our gDiapers with the disposable inserts but I'm wondering about what to do for overnight? We NEVER use our g's overnight. I always use a double stuffed pocket. I was thinking about testing a g double stuffed with disposables to see how absorbent they are but I'm doubting it's going to work. We also have some Grovia shells which I normally use with cloth soakers. Anyone ever tried their bio soakers? So, have any recommendations for overnight options? The only disposables I've used are 7th gen and they wouldn't hold up overnight for our soaker.
Re: Traveling and Overnight diapering
If you'll allow me to tack on to this question...
We're planning a week long trip in a couple of months with no access to a washer. The only diapers we've used are prefolds and pockets and I don't think they're fesible for this trip. I'm trying to decide between hybrids with disposible liners and disposibles, but I have no experience with either. Any recommendations would be great. TIA!
IMO, you may want to just use disposable diapers for a week long trip. Disposable diaper inserts seem so pricey to me. Plus you wouldn't have to worry about hauling dirty diapers/covers back home with you. However, if your LO leaks out of sposies, you could always put a cover over the diaper to contain the sposie leaks. Might be a good option for night time too.
I agree with this. I'm a long time sposie user prior to CDing and while I'm ALL FOR cloth diapering, in your situation (or any situation were you don't have access to a washer), you're probably just better off going with disposables. I think sposies work better than shells with disposable inserts, and really, you aren't saving the environment that much by going with disposable inserts vs sposies, for one week.
As for brand, huggies left little micro balls of whatever they are filled with on my son and I thought that was disgusting so I really don't like them, personally. The Pampers baby dry do not use the dry max technology that some babies are allergic to and they really are quite absorbant so that might be a good option. Target brand are also not bad.
