I started my first cycle of clomid this month and will start bedding tonight. I have done research on clomid but i still feel unsure about my chances of conceiving on this medication. I never dreamed I would have fertility issues because all my siblings have children and although I wasn't ready before I always believed I wouldn't have issues when the time came. My fiance and I have been trying for over a year now with no success and finally decided to go see a doctor to find out what was wrong. After doing blood test, pap, and u/s the test showed that I don't O. Trying to stay positive that the clomid will work any advice on other things I should be doing along with this will help?
Re: First Cycle of Clomid
WTH is "bedding?"
A pap wouldn't show if you O'd or not.
Bedding- my fiance and I will begin having sex tonight.
That pap was done just to see if there was any problems in that area. The pap came back fine. It was the blood test that showed I was not Oing.
We're grown women here--you can use the word sex.
So, the blood test was taken at 7DPO? What was your level?
You and I are in the same boat. My sister simply though about getting prego and popped out two beautiful girls... then here I am, FI and I have been trying for over a year, not have not been successful. Dr determined I didn't O back in september, but we tracked to see if it was sporadic or consistent. Finally, 6 mos later (and my FI's semen analysis), we start our first cycle of clomid today!
Good luck!!
My doctor done the blood test on day 21 after cycle day 1. My doctor said to show that i was ovulating the test needed to be at around 2.5 but i was at a .6 so she says I didnt ovulate. She gave me clomid 50mg to help me ovulated and i go on the 18th to have blood work done again to see if i ovulated this month. I also have a pelvic u/s scheduled for the 18th. I am really new to all this and have been trying to research everything I need to know and things i should ask my doctor when I go back.
My doctor done the blood test on day 21 after cycle day 1. That's great--if you O on CD 14. Otherwise that test isn't valid. My doctor said to show that i was ovulating the test needed to be at around 2.5 Not. even. CLOSE. Are you seeing an RE? Or an OB/GYN or PCP? but i was at a .6 so she says I didnt ovulate. You've had an HSG, your SO had a SA done? CD 3 b/w? Vaginal u/s?
I'm just seeing my regular gynocologist at the moment. When we started thinking something was wrong I didn't know where else to turn so I just made an appointment to go see her and she said that our first step was to see if I was ovulating and done the blood test. It was just the end of february when I went for my first visit. I am not to familiar with what all I need to have done. She hadn't said anything about an HSG or anything like that. Vaginal u/s will be done on the 18th so next wednesday.
Don't do another cycle of meds with her. She is giving you TOTALLY false info and she hasn't talked to you about proper testing.
Your dr gave you clomid W/O the S/A? Definitely make an appt with an RE... ASAP! My dr started me on clomid only after I had all my B/W and U/S testing, and my FI had his S/A. Even once she had the results, she consulted the RE that she is referring us to... she only started me on clomid prior to our appt with the RE because she knows me and got his blessing to do so after he had seen all my results for the past 6 months!
That just doesn't make sense. There is no point putting you on clomid and making you O if this is a problem with his sperm, and only an S/A can verify that. Making you wait 6 months is ridiculous. Definitely find an RE in your area and soon! I guarantee they won't let you continue clomid until they have a S/A and can verify it's all normal.
Holy sh!t. You need to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist ASAP. Your OBGYN clearly has no clue what she is doing. Most say you should only have 6 cycles of clomid ever, first of all. Second of all, you need to have an SA done. Third of all, there is so much wrong here I can't even keep this list going.
TX: IUI #1-4 = BFN + 1 c/p
IUI #5: Clomid 100mg + Bravelle + Trigger + B2B IUIs + 800mg Progesterone = BFP!

I also agree with pp.
I understand that this is new to you and a lot to take in and learn. I also understand that it is hard to come to terms with the fact that you may be dealing with IF.
At the same time, you do need to take this into your own hands and read up on what you are prescribed. If you are unsure about an oral medication that you are ingesting into your body, why would you start taking it before all of your concerns are addressed and you are fully comfortable?
Has your doctor provided you with a written, detailed, treatment plan?
You mentioned that you have done research, what kind? Based on your post, you aren't aware of the proper monitoring that you should be having while taking this medication.
It's easy to just assume the doctor knows what they are talking about. Never assume.
The key to safe IF treatments is treating with the proper type of physician (A well experienced RE) and educating yourself. I don't mean to be rude, but you may end up doing more harm than good unless you make a change now.
I do wish you the best, and hope that maybe the responses you are getting will open your eyes a little.
This whole thing seems very weird. Even after we confirmed I wasn't ovulating my Doc wouldn't even consider starting medicated cycles until the SA and HSG results came in.
