Moar questions!!!!!
Anyone else still have a LO riding up high? Doc doesn't seem concerned yet, but said he likes it when they drop because then you can be fairly sure they're fit. My gauge of whether or not he's dropped is the kitchen counter. I still fit well in front of/over it.
I was reading up on ways to encourage him to drop the other day, but decided I'm not quite ready for that yet. Maybe next week.
Any 2+'ers with stories of LO's that stayed up high for a while but had normal, "easy" vaginal deliveries?
And lastly, to the 2+'ers (or those w/ outside babies) is dropping a sudden thing? Or is it gradual? Like, one morning when I wake up will I just not fit at the counter? Or will it be a few days of the bump slowly getting lower? Or could it be either?
Re: Any other FTM's not drop yet?
Sitting on a Swiss/yoga/birthing ball instead of chairs, rocking the pelvis, rotating the pelvis, that sort of deal.
ETA: For the record, I have no idea if these would work.
I am a FTM as well but some days it seems like I dropped then I get up and BOOM she is way up high again. Last night after my walk i could tell she was lower. I woke up this morning and there she was right back in my ribs.
I wonder if this is happening to me too. I have some days where my crotch feels like I was riding a bicycle the day before, and I figure "oh, ok, he's dropping" but then I pass the counter test and feel "normal" the next day.
Ok, I've been doing that anyway. THANKS!
There was one day last week when I stood up and was like "oh my gosh, so that's what dropping feels like". I had so much pressure on my hips. Yet, he was back up in my ribs by the next morning.
My little boy is still very high. I don't think he can get any higher. I am starting to get worried that he is not going to fit considering he is estimated to be around 8 and half pounds and maybe nine by the time I deliver.
I like the idea of gaging it by the counter. I am going to check tonight. I am trying to get him to drop by bouncing on my yoga ball at night while watching tv. It is not working....
I noticed my LO drop over the course of like a day or two, around 35 weeks. I thought I was imagining it but my DH mentioned it the day after I noticed. Since then she hasn't really gone back up at all.
They say FTM's on average drop 3 weeks before delivery, but I know you don't have to drop that early to have a vaginal delivery.
I didn't drop until I was in active labor with both of my kids. I also had quick, vag, deliveries.
I wouldn't worry!
ditto to all of this
LO's head is very low, but he still manages to stretch out in to my ribs sometimes. I had an U/S last week and the tech was surprised to find parts of him so high after having to pull my underwear down to access the top of his head.
Dropping also doesn't really mean much like some have said.
Same here. I have a lot more lower back pain/ pressure lately but I don't know if that means anything. At 35 weeks my Dr said she could feel his head at my internal but she said he floated up when she would touch it (turns out I have extra fluid.)
I still have not dropped yet, even with some progress (2+cm which i have been at for a few weeks). I am hoping she does drop since thurs is induction day, but i have also heard a lot of stories of women dropping when contractions start. I am feeling lower pressure and punches (confirmed they are punches today in an u/s lol) but am trying not to get my hopes up.
I just keep telling myself that it will be what it will be. No way to force our bodies to do what we want them to do in labor!
Thank you for posting this. I was on the verge of tears. I'm due this week, haven't dropped at all.
What I'm about to tell you won't help you at all, just a testament to how every baby is different:
My first dropped weeks before delivery but I still ended up with a c-section. Go figure. He dropped slowly over about a week.
My second did not drop until during labor, which I understand is normal and I was expecting this again. Even with his lack of dropping he fit though just fine.
This little guy.. decided to drop yesterday. It was sudden, painful, and caught me off guard since I didn't think he would until during labor. And I mean he's ALL the way down. I don't think my first ever dropped this low. I can't walk or sit or anything.. I'm just praying he's on his way out. I noticed when he dropped my heartburn got better and I was HUNGRY for the first time in months. My appetite went away as quickly as it came but I enjoyed a good 24 hours of pigging out first
I'm 39 weeks today and I have not dropped at all. I'm at 2 cm and 'mushy' (her words not mine). I'm not sure what 'mushy' means in terms of effacement but I'd guess it's not very far or she would have given me a percentage. She said she would have stretched me some but the baby's head was too far up to do anything. I really hope that the baby comes down some soon. I need that pressure to dilate further.
