Righty has a lump and is sore. I also am achy up my back, shoulders, and arms. I took my temp and it is average. Either mastitis is on it's way, or I am just getting physically worn out.
I would call the dr. right away and get an antibiotic ASAP. I had it really bad with DD1 and felt more sick than I ever have in my life! Hope it's not it, but don't wait until it gets bad to call.
I had those symptoms and was able to fix it before it got too bad by nursing exclusively on that side for a while, switching up the nursing positions each time, and doing lots of massaging on the sore spot. It hurt like those first few horribly painful days of breastfeeding when you're literally curling your toes and yelling out obscenities, but it resolved itself in under 24 hours. Good luck, I hope it doesn't turn into mastitis!!
Thanks everyone. Should I call if I get a fever, or if the pain gets worse?
Call if you get a fever, if the skin over the clog turns red/hot to the touch, or if you get red streaks on your breast.
This. Or if you get flu-like symptoms (chills, headache, nausea...). I had mastitis 3 times and the last time I developed an abscess. I can tell you from experience- mastitis is not something to mess around with! It hurts like *&^$%# but if it starts to get bad, get antibiotics, massage, hot compress, empty the breast by nursing on that side as much as possible, and ice afterwards. Hope it doesn't get any worse!

you can stop it before it starts. Massage the area, have baby feed to try to unclog it and pump if you have a pump. alternate hot and cold. I had it and i know what it feels like i was hospitalized because of it. I have been blessed to have not gotten it this time around but i learned what to do to prevent it. if you start to feel flu like symptoms call your doc and see if they want to start you on antibiotics or not. but seriously if you dont try to nip it in the but your milk supply in that breast will be hard to get back i limped along for 10 months only producing 2 oz out of my right and up to 10 per pumping out of my left i was lopsided for a long time lol. good luck.

Re: I think I have mastitis in my future...
I agree with the PP. If you are getting mastitis, call and get an antibiotic. It hit me like a truck and it came on fast.
If it is just a clogged duct, a hot hot shower and massaging it in the shower will help.
Good luck!
