I've heard a lot of both positive and negative feedback on head and shoulders- some say the chemicals are not appropriate for babies this age. I stuck with baby oil and olive oil. Actually the olive oil seemed to work better than the baby oil but that could have just been coincidence of timing.

I just made sure to massage DS scalp really well with my hands using his normal shampoo (Aveeno) and then I used a wet washcloth too. It worked really well to get the dry scalp pieces off pretty well.
Tea Tree oil shampoo should clear it up quickly. My husband uses it for psorisis on his scalp and a firend's son was having some problems with cradle cap. We gave her some of the shampoo and the cradle cap cleared up in just a few days.
If you rinse carefully you shouldn't get any in your LO's eyes. I can wash K's hair and bathe her completely and never get her face wet.

Baby oil at the beginning of a bath, left it on while I washed him, then rinsed it well and washed with shampoo. A careful brush out afterwards. We had it for about 2 weeks.
In the hospital the nurses showed us a bath trick & we've never had cradle cap. You shampoo your LO's hair with baby shampoo, then take a very fine tooth comb & comb the hair backwards, then rinse. (Combing backwards will exfoliate the scalp & remove the dead skin cells, you'll actually see it in the comb.)
I'm a hairdresser and just cleared up my lil guys cradle cap. Get a potato brush, Paul Mitchel Baby Don't Cry Shampoo, baby oil, and a cotton hat. Lather up his hair with the shampoo, use the brush to lift any loose skin, rinse and repeat. Once you have his head completely dry, you can brush it again if he has a heavy buildup on his scalp. Massage in the oil and cap it for the day. The heat of his head will help lift it, but the cotton hat still makes it breathable. Don't over oil though because the scalp needs oxygen.
I should add that I bathe him at night and he only wears the hat at night. I used very little/no oil during the day so that it got plenty of air. I recommend not wash his scalp at least twice a day until you see improvement. Hope this helps!
When my DD had it we used vegetable oil on her hair during her bath and then combed her scalp backwards with a fine tooth comb. The oil helped flake it right off and we were able to avoid putting unwanted chemicals on her.

My Pedi suggested this - I think the brand is "California baby" and you can get it at Target.
I also don't typically ever get DD's face wet when getting a bath!

They gave us our comb at the hospital, it's similar to this but baby size.
