Nerve Pain

When I do prenatal yoga, sometimes I get a sharp pain in the very lowest part of my back.  I did it three days ago, and I'm getting this pain intermittently since then.  It almost feels like what I would imagine to be a pinched nerve.  Sometimes it sparks when I move wrong, and sometimes it sparks for no apparent reason.  Has anyone else had this, and what can I do about it?

Re: Nerve Pain

  • i unfortunately have had pain & numbness (a symptom of late pregnancy) since 10 weeks.  since it started so early, ive been in physical therapy since 15 weeks.  even though you only have 10 weeks to go you may wanna check with your doc about p.t cuz you still have 10 weeks to go!!

  • I have a history of back and nerve pain form some herniated discs and pregnancy has really irritated it. The best advice I can give you from experience (I've tried everything!)  is ice! It works so much better for me than heat. I think inflammation can trigger the pain and the ice is a great way to keep that in check. I do about 20 minutes on with both legs propped up on a pillow, especially after any type of physical activity that can irritate it. If you have access to a pool swimming is also amazing because it can really alleviate any pressure on those nerves. Just beware when you step out of the pool you feel as though you weigh a ton ;)  I hope this helps, I know how aggravating nerve pain can be!
