Our lil guy loves being in the tub...he had a couple of blowouts so it was easier to just put him in the tub and hose him down than to go through a box of wipes..and he loves it.
We hadn't planned on bathing him at this point so no baby bath...up until then he was getting a wipe down sponge bath on a towel next to the kitchen sink.. so I just put a couple of folded towels in the bottom of the tub to pad it out and keep him warm and he never cried once.. not even the first time. I figured he might have a fit when the water got near him but he was happy as a clam.
I think we might have a real Pisces water baby lol.
Re: Bath time - Pisces water baby
DD was so-so about baths... tolerated them sometimes, hated them other times. Then I tried showering with her - SUCCESS! She loooved having a shower with me, it's so fun... plus, I get a shower too
I put her in her bouncy seat right outside the shower then I get in, do my thing, and when I'm done I grab her and wash her in my arms, up against my chest. I don't let the water fall directly on her face, but she likes the sensation on the water on her head and back, plus I think she likes still being close to me. Her face is always full of wonder, so cute.
Is he getting cold? I usually lay a warm wet flannel ( face clothe) over his chest to keep him warm and just keep adding warm water over it during his bath... plus he is only in there about 5 minutes max
The first time he got a bath he was actually supported on my legs and knees, since I was in the middle of taking a luke warm bath ( thanks neighbors for using all the hot water up lol) so he just joined me .. but since then I lay him on towels... till I get a chance to grab a bath body spongey thing for him to lay on.
He loves the big tub so much I might not even bother getting a baby bath now.
maybe if you try getting in the tub and have DH hand him to you he'll feel more secure till he gets used to water around him?
Hmm maybe he is getting cold. We have a baby bath tub with the infant sling insert so he's not totally immersed in the water, but he might be getting cold because of that. I'll try the warm wet cloth over him and see if that helps. Thanks!
I've thought about taking him in the shower but he's so squirmy even when he's not wet that I'm afraid to!
I hear you on the wiggly worm..I have one of them too. I remember somewhere seeing a sling that had been designed for the shower by a mom but I can't imagine that being as comfortable as being able to lay out flat and play in the water like my little guy does on the towels.. sure it causes extra laundry.. but he loves laying flat in the water wriggling around.
https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12403403 I am thinking something like this might be a good buy for our little guy if it's padded enough
I have this one. It is cheap and awesome. We use this and a baby washcloth over his belly and he doesn't make a peep. Once he gets out though, you'd think someone was circumcising him again!
I do the shower business, too, and he loves it! He likes his bath, too, but the shower tends to be more convenient for me.
I think I'll buy a spare one and leave it at MIL's since he has pooper diapers round there if we have to give him formula ... and I know she'd love to be ble to give him a bath occasionally and spend some Grandma time with him when we visit.. luckily we don't have a squeamish grandma who just likes him when he is clean and asleep lol.
Our lil fishy in the tub....
