My wedding & engagement ring are gone!

We moved to our new house yesterday. (yay). When the movers arrived I was still running around packing and DS was still asleep. I stopped packing, for him up and. Hanged and quickly realized I needed to get myself and the kids out of thier way. I'd left some things in the bathroom and my closet that I wanted to move myself. I told them not to move anything in those two rooms. I then put the kids in the car and stayed out there until they were done.

Late lastnight I went back to our old house to get my bathroom items. Doing what I always do I opened herbs first drawer which is where I always put my ring. Always. As soon as I opened the drawer it hit me that it was gone. I looked at my finger and realized in the madness of moving day I'd never put it on. It was gone.

I can only imagine that at some point one of the four movers had to use the bathroom, snooped, and the temptation was too much.

I'm heartbroken. My husband spent months working with the designer back East to make it. I'd seen his work on his site and loved a design he did so DH had him make mine too. It is insured so hopefully the insured value will cover replacing it. Hopefully the designer has the same mold. He's usually backed up for months. Still...can't replace the sentimental value. I just want my ring back and to forget it ever went missing or when I get the replacement forget it's not the original.

Were the movers you hired bonded and insured? Be sure to report it to them too.

I am sorry. H lost his ring about 5 years ago (he had lost weight and never got the ring resized), so I know how devestated you are!

oh no...that's AWFUL!!! did you call the moving company yet?

is there any possible way it might have been packed?

They are insured, not sure about bonded.

I feel so weird about calling the movers. There were four moving men and I feel bad accusing them when it really could have been just one of them. I will call and file a police report too. I'm also going to go back and look through the house again.

Report it stolen at once. The information will get to all the pawn shops and hopefully your ring can be recovered.

I'm sorry this happened to you. It happened to a friend of mine as well. She had left her rings with the things they were taking over on their own and they disappeared while the movers were there. Hopefully they can either be found or the cost of replacements will be covered by insurance.
