Who's still working? Complain here.

I know I am not even at my due date so I don't have much room to complain, but I hate being at work.  I teach middle school and the amount of energy that is required on a daily basis is almost more than I can give.  I want so badly to be done.  None of my work dress clothes fit.  I have resorted to wearing jeans, but even they are tight.  My feet are swollen and only crocs without socks fit, which was great until the weather got cold again.  And I am exhausted from waking up every half hour to pee.

Who's miserable like me?

Re: Who's still working? Complain here.

  • I am...but I sit in a quiet office alone and not too many people bother me.  Friday is my last day though.  I couldnt imagine teaching and still working!

  • I work nights. Which means I am home with my DS's all day, cleaning, chasing them, etc, and then I wolf dinner down and go to work. I only work a few hours which isn't bad (i'm not a stripper, LOL), but by the time I come home, i'm so overtired that I can't sleep. Then I fall asleep on the couch, wake up 2 hours later, and can't get back to sleep. It's a wicked cycle. I'm hoping to work thru Friday and then call it quits.

  • I feel your pain. I'm a preschool teacher for at-risk kids.  So, i deal with a lot of diagnosis and behavior issues.  every day when i go in, it gets more and more difficult to deal with the kids. my maternity leave starts on the 20th, and believe me- i am counting down the days!!

  • i cannot imagine teaching being this pregnant!  i was planning to work up until delivery...due in 2 days.  I decided this week that I am going to work 1/2 days until baby arrives...i dont have much to do at work because i have wrapped everything up in anticipation of leaving any time.  its frustrating waiting...but i dont wantt to use up my maternity leave time untila fter baby comes so i am sucking up working half time.

  • I'm working until the 20th and/or until this little man decided to make his appearance. I work for a service center and the last couple of days there have been fuel spills in the garage. Talk about instant headache and nausea. My boss knows it bothers me so he doesn't mind me going outside to get fresh air multiple times. I have rude arrogant customers I have to deal with all day. I'm not sleeping hardly at all due to peeing, backaches, cramps, and being too hot. I'm just ready to be DONE!

  • I use the term 'Working' very loosely. I'm going to work, I'm looking at my laptop screen and occasionally I get some stuff done. I guess it helps to pass the time but I feel like a clock watcher. While I'd love to be relaxing at home, I have a feeling that I'd go even more crazy waiting and waiting and waiting. I actually hope they give me something time consuming to do so that I can be distracted for a little while, but alas, that is not how it's been lately. I facebook, email and bump and do a little bit of work stuff here and there. I'd just like to be done now, but I'm only 39 weeks today so I don't have the right to complain like the overdue ladies do.
  • Still working here too with no sign of any progression towards labor.  I work in Gov't contracting and am trying to wrap up a negotiation; however, the sh!t hit the fan yesterday and I don't think I'm going to be able to finish.  At this point, I just wish the baby would come so someone else can deal with the mess.  I have been keeping my files tidy every night in hopes that baby will come and I won't be at work the next day!

Technically, I have leave set to start on Monday based on my DD, so Thursday will be my last day.  However, if things are still going with my negotiations, I may work part time next week to try and wrap things up.  I am pretty miserable and I think the stress is inhibiting my labor progression, honestly!

  • I'm working until Friday and ready to be done.  I'm not overly uncomfortable, but this darned pregnancy induced carpal tunnel shiit is getting old, real quick.  My job requires me to be on the computer all day, and constant mousing/clicking makes my fingers go numb.

  • My job is a little bit different but no days off for me. I own a horse stable so I get up early and feed/turnout horses and clean stalls before farmer husband - who is never here - leaves for work. Then, I teach lessons during the day and lunge the horses that would normally be ridden by me. Not to mention all the mowing and maintenance that goes along with having a farm. On top of that, I'm on foalwatch this week for my pregnant mare who has the same due date as me but is showing signs she'll foal soon. Fortunately, I have a video camera that I can watch her from my bed but it's made for some nights w/ little sleep. This is one tired lady here! My neverending quest is to teach my 2 1/2 yo DD to properly clean stalls.....she's a good helper but usually it's more work to have her "help". Looking forward to going into labor and having a couple days of someone else doing the work around here! Big Smile Atleast the weather has been nice!

  • Me Me Me!!

I work in an office and I only fit into one pair of my dress pants still.  I wear sandles EVERY day because my feet explode out of any other shoe.  My brain can't even focus on anything work related... I just want to have my little girl so bad!!

As of yesterday, I'm dilated to a 2 and 80% effaced.  All I can think about is doing squats and walking to get this girl moving.

The worst part is I have to come back here after 6 weeks home... I'm gonna KILL someone!!

  • Ugh, I know the feeling.  I moved back the day I'm finishing work so that I can have as much time off after Evan is born as possible.  However, I'm just done.  I think what annoys me the most is all of the coworkers who come to my office *every day* to say "hey, you're still here", "hang in there", "you haven't dropped yet", and "nothing's happened yet, huh?".  Well yeah, duh, what exactly am I supposed to do otherwise?  And why do I need the daily reminders?

It's also frustrating to treat each day like it may be my last.  So at the beginning of the day I have to program frantically to try to make some progress, then at the end of the day I have to have everything wrapped up so my boss can potentially take it over.  It's like a perpetual state of slamming on the accelerator then brake.

On the plus side, I'm taking a day of leave a week for the heck of it.  I'm saying it's because of my doctor's appt, but really, it's for a sanity break.

  • I'm still working. I planned to work up until I go into labor, but now I'm wondering just how long she's going to hang out in there. I feel like it is getting a bit ridiculous going to work every day (I just sit at a desk so I'm lucky in that sense).

I don't want to use any of my FMLA time before the baby comes but I am considering just finishing on Friday this week and hoping she gets the hell outta me soon thereafter!

Today I am "working from home" aka not working really. Though at this point even when I'm in the office, I'm not really doing a lot. Every day I leave i think.. this may be it. But it never is!!

  • Still working and no end date in sight - I am planning on returning from maternity leave on October 1 so the closer I work to baby's arrival, the less of that time I'll have to take unpaid.

I am just tired and getting bored of work as my brain isn't here anymore. I don't really want to be sitting home all day as I'd go crazy but I would like to have the option of coming in at 10 instead of 8:30!

This!  I too work for the government and we are wrapping up a National sign-up for one of my programs.  The county I work in is in the top 10 in the Nation for signup in this program.  There is NO end in sight for "tying up lose ends" here, so at this point I wish I would just go into labor so I didn't have to come back.

Friday is my last day no matter what, but I have a doctors appt today......hoping for some good news.  I was 2cm dialated and 40% affaced 8 days ago........fingers crossed for more today.  Good luck to all the ladies!

  • I have atleast 3 weeks left - or until baby arrives.

Most of my work pants are too tight and the shirts are too short to be called "professional".

I have to get up at 4:45am for work and I don't get home until 8 at night. Its a very long day for a pregnant girl.

We eat dinner at 9 and go right to bed.

  • I just have a regular office job, so I can't complain. I can't imagine having a job where I'm on my feet all day. However, any time I sit in a regular chair for a long stretch of time, my ankles and feet swell up so much it huts to walk. Every day during the week, it just gets worse and worse because the swelling doesn't go down all the way at night. Then on weekends I walk around a lot and when I sit, it's only in my recliner with my feet up and the swelling will finally go down. If I could do my job in a recliner, that would be perfect! Only 2 and a half more weeks until my due date, but I'm going to continue working until I go into labor so I can have as much leave time as possible with the baby.

  • I'm working but this is my 5th week at my job. Thankfully I have my own office and can close the door if I need quiet. Sitting at my desk isn't always the most comfortable though. I plan to stick it out though until baby comes because I'd feel bad asking for some time off when I've just started. As it is they are so willing to work with me and I do take at least one afternoon off a week, just so I get some relaxing in.

  • My OB doesn't induce until you are 10-11 days overdue so I am scheduled through May 1st!  I am a pharmacist and am on my feet all day. It is killing me. I am really hoping this little girl doesn't go a week overdue like my first.

This! I work from home exclusively, but am still miserable and so over it. I was planning on starting my FMLA a few weeks early, but they make you go until you deliver unless doc takes you out for medical. But, I have a scheduled c-section next Tuesday and was able to take Monday before off as paid time off. So, I only have 3 days left after today. I can't wait.

Me too! The hospital I work at is so slow right now. I have some work to do, but not much. Basically surfing the web....

  • I did my complaining yesterday in the b*tchfest thread!  Hahaha.

I'll be 39wks tomorrow and thus far, nothing doing progress-wise.   My schedulers have cut back on how many patients are put on my schedule...just in case, trying to keep it reasonable so that my coworkers could see my patients if I call in.  My replacement started last week, so I've been doing a lot of training with him and seeing patients together.  My supervisor has talked about just not scheduling me any patients next week.... but my MWs won't even look at inducing until I hit 41wks, so I could still have 2wks+.

  • I'm still working!  My only complaint is that my work isn't proactive in dealing with my situation.  I'm on call tonight and I wasn't supposed to have any on calls for the month of April and no 'floor' shifts at the hospital and I have 3.

Until this weekend I've felt great and plan on working until baby gets here or April 20th, whichever comes first.  I've been having some early/false labour and am having my bloody show on and off and I'm going to see what my OB says at my appointment on Thursday about my continuing to work.
