Sharp Pain Above Right Hip

I'm having this sharp stabbing pain (like someone is poking me with a pin) everytime I sit, stand, or turn to get out of bed in the area of my stomach above my hip.  Any idea what it could be?  It was been 4 days since my c-section (first time).  Thanks!

Re: Sharp Pain Above Right Hip

  • I have the same thing.  It's not where the incision is, so it's weird.  I'm pretty sure I remember it from the previous c/s's too.  My guess is that it's a combo of pulling/tugging the had to do to get baby out, things coming back to where they were prePG and possible internal stitches.  It gets a little better for me every day (I'm 5 days post c/s).

  • I had those too. My sister (also an OBGYN) says that it's the nerve endings repairing themselves.

  • It's probably just the nerve endings like PP said.  If it's just to the right of your incision it could be from where they tied off the internal stitches.  My OB said that a lot of women have a slight pain in that spot because it's where the stitches are tied off.  She said she didn't know why it would be bothered more than the rest of the incision, but that it was a common complaint.

  • I asked my OB about it yesterday when she as removing my staples.  She said there is a big stitch there in the fascia.  She hears complaints of pain there a lot.   I don't remember it hurting so bad before, but I think that the chairs at my kitchen table are not helping much.  They're too upright and causing stretching in the area.  I'm feeling much better today at 1 week PP.
