Gift advice for 4 yr old girls, ty

We are going to a fancy party for a little girl (turning four) that I know ds enjoys playing with in class and we have had two play dates with her outside of school. I wouldn't say I am close with her mom or anything like that, but friendly. I knit her a headband (with really fancy yarn) and will probably also knit one or two bows and put them on barrettes (which can also be clipped to the headband). What else should I get her? Should I just make her a bunch of accessories-? I could do a nice scarf or hat (which she could also clip the bows to). I know she likes to wesr a princess dress etc. But do little girls like getting accessories for their birthday or is that like getting underpants and socks for Christmas? What would a good additional thing be to give with the hand knits?

  • My DD LOVES accessories! From purses to earrings, hats. but she loves all that girly stuff. I like the idea of the knits cuz she could customize and clip to different things. Ultimately, she can keep and pass down. it's a great idea.

  • I agree w/ PP. DD1 loves accessories of all sorts, and clothes ;) Target sells a headband kit. I don't know how much you want to spend but I think it's $18. It has something like 10 headbands and all the parts you can add on to accessorize them. Like a craft kit. I've already decided that's what we'll be getting DD's girl- friends next year for their b-days :)

Otherwise, both my girls love Barbie, My Little Pony, Littlest Pet Shop stuff, and dress-up clothes. They both enjoy reading and puzzles as well. And DD1 is really into boardgames that she can play with me (favorites are Candy Land, and some Pirate pop-up sword game I can't remember the name of). Also, I think DD1's favorite b-day present from friends this years was a large Hello Kitty craft kit that had paper, paint, stickers, markers, etc..

  • Well my DD is 3 and she LOVES accessories too!  Hair bows, jewelry, purses and even umbrellas!  I think it's a great idea. Oh and she has a caboodles kit (yup, they still sell them) she rec'd as a gift that holds most of them.

  • DD loves play dresses, play shoes, and little rings. She loves when we paint her finger and toenails. She's also really into My Little Pony, Strawberry Shortcake, and music. She loves when we get a new cd.

  • My girls love to dress up so anything like you mentioned would be fun.  You could also get some clear lipgloss, nail polish or other fun things like that (depending on the parents and how they feel about that stuff).  My girls have both and they know that the lipgloss is in the house only and they have to ask if they can put it on.  A nice tea set is fun and Barbies are always fun.

you could definitely get some accessories to go with that.  Children's Place has some bracelets that are cute and relatively cheap.  You could get bracelets, purse, sunglasses or the like.  Claire's also has these cheap tiara combs for about 3-4 bucks that my DD adores.  Probably have to ask but they are a ton of fun to play with.
